The suns out and it’s that time again!
Can’t stand to see normal men rubber necking (twisting their necks this way and that) yo get a glimpse of young girls wobbly bits, which are more than on show this time of year!
Men’s reactions aside, I just don’t like seeing so much flesh on show, no matter what age or gender!
Before anyone asks, I too was as senseless as today’s youth, and wore revealing clothing in yesteryear!!
I guess things never change really.

I saw a woman today, mid to late fifties at a guess, well groomed and nicely dressed. BUT, although she was quite trim, she had chosen to wear a top that displayed a couple of inches of wobbly, overhanging tummy!

Such a shame, she had got it "right" in all other respects, but that flesh completely ruined the look.

Hate men with knobbly hairy feet, in flip-flops, and 'fat' women in vests.

Pittcity Sun 12-May-19 14:55:40

I am always trying to hide said flab but youngsters just flaunt it?!

B9exchange Sun 12-May-19 14:59:04

I was following a girl in, I think, her twenties yesterday wearing a pair of white cut off shorts, with the bottom of her buttocks peeping out. I am all for people having the right to wear whatever they want, but if it was my daughter, I don't think I would want her to have the kind of attention she was attracting. Perhaps I am just really old fashioned.

Namsnanny Sun 12-May-19 15:02:55

Phoenix...you feel like going over and handing out tips don’t you? 8 out of 10 but more attention to the waist area!!!☺️

Grammaretto Sun 12-May-19 15:44:06

Ha Ha! I know exactly what you mean. It is ugly and distracting at the same time.

I even wonder if I should say something but then again....

What do posters think about strangers removing a stray hair from the back of your jumper or similar? Or telling you you are about to exit the loo with your dress tucked into your knickers?
I was certainly grateful for the latter as I was about to take my seat after the interval.

Blimey, it'd have to be at least 25 degrees before anything but my face is exposed ! Even then I've got a cardigan at the ready. Although the sun's out and it appears warm, the atmosphere to me still isn't like it is abroad, such as that lovely warmth when you step off a plane and that heat hits you--------lovely.

B9exchange, you're not old-fashioned at all. There's nothing nice nor attractive seeing " half-dressed " young women. Why do they get stroppy if men whistle/pass remarks etc when they're dressed like that ? If it's not to draw attention then why do they " half-dress ?

As for those large women and girls, why wear the wrong things that accentuate the bulges of fat ?

phoenix Sun 12-May-19 16:11:12

And what about the tattoos that are on show once the warm weather starts? Some of the bodies that they are on might be best left undecorated!

Grammaretto Sun 12-May-19 16:25:02

A tattooed girl on the bus yesterday. Arms covered with them. She was quite plump. I pondered over what her skin would be like when she was old but I suppose by then they'd all be the same - all the old ladies would be covered in 'em. I think on balance tattooed arms were better than exposed white fat ones or at least no worse.

We had lunch at a local pub yesterday and a lovely looking young couple came in as we sat down to eat. The young woman was stunningly beautiful; very slim, beautifully made up and wearing a lovely floaty summer dress; she looked amazing. But as she walked past our table, I noticed that the whole of the back of her legs, lower arms and the back of her neck were heavily tattooed. I'm sure she was delighted with her tats but, for me, it seemed such a shame to spoil such lovely young skin.

Glammy57 Sun 12-May-19 17:13:21

One thing I hate about the summer is the amount of flesh on display. I don’t care if you’re fat, skinny, male or female but please show some respect and cover up. Men without shirts and hairy legs, in shorts is yuk. Same applies to visible tattoos and body piercings. Cannot imagine living in Australia where everyone seems to be half-dressed! ?

NfkDumpling Sun 12-May-19 17:27:31

Most people look best modestly covered up, except for faces. (Especially me.)

KatyK Sun 12-May-19 17:36:24

I was out for a drink with DH last night in a town centre pub. The girls were all done up. Lovely clothes, hair done etc but a lot of them were very overweight and were wearing tight, revealing clothes which of course they were perfectly entitled to do. It struck me that when I was a teeenager in the 60s it was very rare that you saw an overweight girl.

glammanana Sun 12-May-19 18:31:05

My OH is like any other normal red blooded man and will comment to me as to how pretty a woman/girl is all in total innocense, the same as he would to our DD or DILs,what he says does surprise him when the sun comes out and extra flesh is showing is how far lycra can stretch over the lumps and bumps which some seem to forget about,he is convinced most do not pocess a full length mirror.

Calendargirl Sun 12-May-19 18:45:35

KatyK.
Back in the 60’s, I think some girls would be plump, and probably wearing skirts that showed big thighs, but I agree not like some young girls you see nowadays who are just huge, and sporting numerous tattoos. I hate to see tattoos, think they look common, and why older women choose to have them done on saggy, crepey flesh.......?

Fennel Sun 12-May-19 19:14:01

It was a lovely sunny day here in the NE, and I walked down to the shops in the morning.
Just in front of me was a woman in shorts and croptop. She was sun-tanned all over, striding out, talking on her smartphone.
I saw her later in Tesco - she wasn't much younger than me! Facial skin dried out etc.
It's all about what's 'in' on the social networks.

nanny2507 Sun 12-May-19 19:27:00

i dont have a muffin top....i have an entire shelf in a cake shop!!! smile

Alexa Sun 12-May-19 19:30:57

Loose clothing will soon be trendy. BodyCon styles are passe.

SisterAct Sun 12-May-19 19:32:40

Love the title for the post and nanny2507 you made me ?

Iam64 Sun 12-May-19 20:30:31

It never ceases to amaze, irritate and shock me, in equal measure, that when we have a little bit of sun, so many people feel the need to strip off. I saw a few chaps with their shirts off, walking down the road, this afternoon. Why? If you want to expose your skin to the sun, do so but not unless you're on a beach or in your own garden.
Yes I'm increasingly old.

BradfordLass72 Sun 12-May-19 21:10:27

Speaking for myself and my wobbly bits, I don't ever dress to suit someone else's ideas of what is appropriate.
(There are exceptions**)

I've heard expressions such as, "She shouldn't wear trousers with a bottom like hers.' Why not?

Do the critics seriously expect everyone to dress so that they are pleased with what they see?
Do the critics dress the way their neighbours dictate? Probably not.

Being a fat lady, I've encountered people who feel it is their right to tell me I shouldn't even be seen in public, disgracefully obese and ugly that I am (in their opinion) so I'll be jiggered if I'll try to please anyone other than my bulgy beautiful self when it comes to clothing. If they don't like it - look away.

** I need, on occasion, to attend funerals as part of my duties and then I dress in black, cream blouse, green scarf, the uniform of my group. I don't wear this at any other time, being a person who loves colour.

Poppyred Sun 12-May-19 21:41:58

If you’ve got it flaunt it by all means. If it’s wrinkly for God’s sake cover it up nobody wants to see It!!

Deedaa Sun 12-May-19 23:20:05

Another pet hate is the very large bride who insists on wearing a strapless wedding dress, preferably in shiny satin. Then she has all her fat bridesmaids in the same style.

I've just been reading Unnatural Causes by Dr Richard Sheppard the forensic pathologist. He says one thing he has noticed is that bodies nowadays are much fatter than when he started.

DillytheGardener Sun 12-May-19 23:58:23

Suns out? Not in South London! I was in cashmere leggings and a scarf today. As another poster said, it would need to be many degrees warmer to show my face let along any other skin grin
