I’ve never posted before but I’ve just been reading this and I really do think this is wrong on so many levels!! As the grandmother of two DGC who are approaching this age group and would would hate this sort of thing, does anybody agree that this is going too far?? Maybe when they are leaving secondary school it’s ok but for Year 6 children?? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-7264099/Mother-spoils-daughter-11-1K-lavish-prom-including-400-dress-horse-carriage.html?ito=link_share_article-factbox

Common sense and restraint seem to have flown out of the window.

More money than sense.

Is it the parents with money or is it the type that likes to be seen to make a splash and will borrow up to the hilt to impress ther cronies?

My year 6 GD had her leavers' assembly, but also, the evening before, the whole year went bowling (well, those who wanted to) and had a great time. I so agree about the inappropriateness of proms.

Our youngest has just left primary school and had just had his prom - don’t believe everything you read in the papers. There will be some extreme examples (the ones that make the DM) but the majority tend to be more like leavers discos. You’ll get a handful of silly parents who go over the top but most don’t.
