Aibu to put the heating on? Have you put yours on yet? This is the first day I've felt chilly. My wall thermometer says it's 20C inside but this is an old house & my feet & hands are cold. I wanted to hold on longer before switching it on but I don't think I can.

Put it on - I don't believe in holding off, if you are cold

its because many of us don`t adapt so quickly to changing temperatures, adaptation becomes much slower as we age. I `tested` my upstairs heating this morning just before my shower. It works fine and I enjoyed my warm en suite and bedroom

Now I am `testing` the stove in my living room, seeing if I can remember how to light it

I changed my cool sheets this morning, nice cosy flannel, so comfy to get into

It will be different in a few days, our bodies will adapt

I'm "testing" mine today. Just to see if it works, you know!

Mines onsmile chilly mortal here

Ooh Craftyone - flannelette....I normally wait til October before swapping Egyptian cotton for ‘warm’ bedding as DH calls it!

We’ve had gas fire on for an hour each evening this week but no CH ....yet! I suspect this weekend maybe our last bit of summer so might make October yet.

It’s chilly here,
but we’ve had a storm this afternoon that started with thunder, followed with big hailstones making the patio white!

MawB2 Thu 24-Sep-20 17:55:52

What I’m liking is the heated towel rail which also heats the en suite - and my lecky blanket!
I have also had my gas “multi fuel” on in the evening for a quick warm up especially yesterday when the temperature dropped and it chucked it down.

I've got mine on for a couple of hours---why not ? It's when you're cold your resistance lowers so it's not worth it.

MawB2 Thu 24-Sep-20 17:58:05

Alternatively .......throw an extra dog on the bed!

TrendyNannie6 Thu 24-Sep-20 18:02:10

Yep ours is on, if you are cold put it on

Grandmabatty Thu 24-Sep-20 18:05:34

Temperature got down to - 1° last night and didn't rise above 10° so the heating has been on all afternoon.

Marydoll Thu 24-Sep-20 18:16:25

Mine is on too!

Charleygirl5 Thu 24-Sep-20 18:28:40

It is difficult when the temperature is around 24C one day and today 12C. I have not switched mine on yet and once I cook supper I should be fine because I intend having 2 glasses of wine. I have taken a hwb to bed for ages.

Our heating is on too plus a woolen throw added to the foot of the bed last night in readiness for chillier nights. The cat also snuggles in to me at bedtime and is better than any hot water bottle. ?

BlueSky Thu 24-Sep-20 18:37:25

Agree with NanaK if you are cold put it on! This stems from years of being cold because of an overbearing, controlling, weird ex husband who mentally abused me.

No heat on here in Dorset (don't have central heating anyway) and we are still in t-shirts. It was a bit chilly when we went shopping at 7.30 this morning but only need a cardi. It gradually brightened up and ended with a nice sunny evening.
I miss my cat warmer, nothing better Kalu lol.

Was only thinking yesterday that I shall have to take the front off the gas fire and clean it of it's dust in the not too distant future, but I think it's a bit better next week so it can wait.

I have it on in the evenings. It’s really chilly now. I’ve just watched a beautiful rainbow although it’s not actually raining here. Now there’s a pink sky. Beautiful.

crazyH Thu 24-Sep-20 18:52:26

I've got mine on constant 18 degrees

Esspee Thu 24-Sep-20 18:53:02

When I returned from the shops this morning my OH was having tea on the patio wearing only a pair of shorts.
The underlying temperature has certainly dropped dramatically but in the glorious sunshine of the last two days my sun trap of a patio has been roasting.
Where am I?
Bonnie Scotland!

It clicked on a couple of weeks ago but it's still ok here at the moment. If I were cold I would def put it on. I do find that a fleece blanket saves having to have it up too high though.

TwiceAsNice Thu 24-Sep-20 19:05:49

Not had mine on yet but it’s rained here this afternoon so my concession was to not have the balcony door open!

I agree cat against my legs or back at night is VERY warm! Don’t usually put the heating on until mid Oct

M0nica Thu 24-Sep-20 19:08:36

Our heating is entirely controlled by the thermostat, which is set at 18.5. It has been coming on intermittently in the morning since the start of the month and yesterday was the first day it came on in the evening as well.

I see no virtue in not turning it on if you feel cold. They do not give you an award when you are admitted to hospital suffering from hypothermia, more likely to think you a dratted nuisance.

It’s getting chilly here too but a nice hot water bottle at my back keeps me cosyM not putting the gas fire on yet
