Tesco forward booking for grocery deliveries

Does anyone else use Tesco for home grocery deliveries? Speaking to friends they tell me that some other supermarkets allow you to book much further ahead than Tesco does - for instance you cannot book a Christmas delivery slot, currently the furthest ahead you can book is 7th December. Seems Tesco do not reward regular customers with the ability to book forward regular slots, which it would be to their advantage to do. Would be happy to switch supermarkets if any others were taking on new online customers - seems they are not. AIBU? Or is there a secret method of booking further ahead??!!

I use Tesco and Waitrose.

Waitrose Christmas slots went weeks ago and Tesco haven't yet released theirs as far as I know.

Anniezee, try shoppingslot.co.uk and just put in your postcode - it's free.

I've got later ones Anniezee. Are you member of Delivery saver? Also click and collect available here.

Sainsbury and Ocado want you to buy a delivery pass and then you can book regular slots.

Tesco released delivery slots for delivery pass users last week.
Anyone else can book Christmas delivery slots from Friday 20th Nov at 7am.

I paid for a delivery pass at Tesco just for convenience. I had no idea they gave you preference for Xmas slots. I was lucky enough to get one for 23rd December. It's worth doing if you can afford to pay up front for your deliveries. You can have as many deliveries as you want. Not that I do, I just have one when I need it, every 10 days or so.

I've got my Tesco slot booked for 20th Dec.

Ordinary slots booked up to 17th Dec.

Sorted!

If you have a delivery pass, they opened up Christmas slots on 13th Nov. DH managed to get us one but apparently queues on the telephone later were horrendous.

I was very lucky to get my Waitrose order in for 23rd Dec I completly forgot about it until someone mentioned they where due to be released here on GN so I was lucky.

My experience echoes that of merlotgran... i have ‘delivery saver’ so I have a Chr***mas delivery on 23rd December and my usual weekly slot, every Monday until then.

I have a Sainsbury’s delivery pass and received an e mail yesterday to say Xmas slots will be available for me to book on 22 November. I expect they will go fast. Generally I can book two weeks into the future with them.

My Tesco delivery saver plan, which I've had for years, enables me to book four weeks ahead ordinarily.
Even with this though I logged on at 7am last Friday to book a Christmas delivery slot, was put in a queue, got through three hours later and the closest I could get was Saturday 19th.
My friend had logged on and joined the queue before the official time of 7am, got through far quicker and got a later slot.
There's a limit of 95 items per order now.

Tesco's latest delivery date before Christmas in my area is now 14th December.
Click and collect is available up to 21st December.

Supermarkets do not need to reward regular customers because they will rarely lose their regulars, a new customer enticed with a booking slot may become a regular.

I've never been able to book a Tescos slot since lockdown began in March despite us shopping at there for years although I have had a couple of click and collect. We've recently moved and there is no local Tesco to collect from - the nearest is 30 miles away or back where we've come from. I've been using Sainsburys but their slots only go week by week and Morrisons who don't go out further than 3 weeks. Good job there's only the 2 of us and we won't be having anything special over the holiday as we will be moving again and decorating.

I'll be taking a chance at the local M&S,. hoping it's not a free for all and get killed in the rush grin

I got stuck in Tesco's so-called queue too on Friday morning, despite signing in at 6.45 am. My DiL, same region, signed in at 7 am., got into the site almost immediately and booked a slot very quickly for the 23rd, the day I had hoped for.

When I was still waiting at 8.30, DiL took my details and she and DS both signed into my account from their devices - one of them got onto the site and booked me a slot within five minutes (for 21st, not the day I had wanted, but it was the only one left by then, and far better than nothing), while I was still stuck in the wretched queue!

I looked on Tesco's Facebook page later, and it seemed that a lot of people had a similar experience - no luck on one device, but got in via another!

Tesco's only advice to those who failed to get a slot because of this problem was to try again this coming Friday, or keep checking in case any random slots become available through cancellations.

V3ra Tue 17-Nov-20 20:41:35

MamaCaz my daughter was in the queue even longer than me, and also got the 19th.

Elusivebutterfly Tue 17-Nov-20 20:46:03

I used to have a delivery pass with Tesco but cancelled it as was unable to book slots for several months this year. Being able to book Christmas slots early is not a good enough reason to reinstate it when they don't prioritise their regular customers the rest of the year.

Kate1949 Tue 17-Nov-20 20:55:59

I wonder if it depends on where you live. I logged in to Tesco on Friday at 7 am and had my slot of choice was within 5 minutes. It's very frustrating for those of you who couldn't get a slot. At the start of the pandemic, I couldn't get a slot anywhere. I then discovered Iceland who were great, plenty of slots, but you can't book too far ahead.

Callistemon Tue 17-Nov-20 22:22:52

I needed to change my Saturday grocery order on Friday morning and couldn't understand why I had to wait for about 40 minutes to get on to the website. Then I realised that the Christmas slots had opened up for delivery saver customers.

Hellogirl1 Tue 17-Nov-20 23:40:27

I tried to book a Christmas week delivery last night, all that was left was 2 till 10pm on Monday and Tuesday, the 21st and 22nd. It wouldn`t be so bad but I nearly always end up with 9 till 10pm deliveries, and I hate putting shopping away at that time, but it`s better than nowt I suppose. Our Tesco don`t do click and collect.

Alishka Tue 15-Dec-20 17:12:03

I'm severely disabled so have been having Morrisons home deliveries since March. My earliest time slot was 7th Dec, so I ate my way through my fridge/freezer and cupboards to make room.
All now done!

nadateturbe Tue 15-Dec-20 17:45:22

I have a slot booked with Tesco for 21st and 29th They allow me to book forward 3 weeks.
