I always take vitamin c, and vitamin D, but not really anything else,

lemsip Sun 06-Dec-20 23:26:40

selenium, vit D3, vit c

I started taking vit D3 two weeks ago. The first supplement of any kind I’ve taken since folic acid during my last pregnancy 40 years ago.

Multivits, Vit D, Q10 and magnesium (though I can't remember why I take the latter).

merlotgran Sun 06-Dec-20 23:36:07

Vit D, magnesium, echinacea and cod liver oil.

blondenana Sun 06-Dec-20 23:43:46

I was given Vit D about 3 years ago, but when i had to see a different Dr as mine was away, she took it off me and said i didn't need it
I do buy it,but sometimes forget and run out
Wonder if i will get it again now
Magnesium is good for helping sleep problems ,and i think for restless legs

Vitamin D3 on the advice of my endocrinologist. I’m not deficient in anything else ?

Maggiemaybe Sun 06-Dec-20 23:59:25

I do. Viviscal for my hair, cod liver oil for my joints, vitamin D to ward off the lurgy. And acidophilus capsules if I feel indigestion coming on. I've no idea whether any of them are doing any good. smile

Multivitamins, turmeric in capsule form, cod liver oil and manuka honey in my tea.
I sound like a hypochondriac!

WOODMOUSE49 Mon 07-Dec-20 00:23:30

None

Tried something for joints (arthritis) but gave up after 3 years. Nothing had changed.

WOODMOUSE49 Mon 07-Dec-20 00:24:12

Meant to add that "nothing had changed and arthritis got worse"

I’ve just started taking Vitamin D tablets as I heard they might be a good thing to take in the present pandemic - could offer some protection against suffering the very worst of the COVID symptoms. Has anyone else heard that?

BlueBelle Mon 07-Dec-20 04:01:40

I believe all people in northern climes should take VitD in the winter because our sun just isn’t strong enough to give us what we need so that’s all I take a VitD tablet a day
I think many of the ones on the shelves are simply there to part you with your money

NotAGran55 Mon 07-Dec-20 06:43:00

I have just started on vitamin D as it seems to crop up as something we need in the winter .
Also magnesium as it is supposed to help with insomnia. I have only been taking them both since Friday so too soon to report and success with the sleep ?

Greenfinch Mon 07-Dec-20 06:51:15

Vitamin D because blood test revealed a very low level. Might give magnesium a try if it is supposed to help with insomnia.

Ashcombe Mon 07-Dec-20 07:05:27

Yes, honeyrose, Dr. Sarah Jarvis recommends Vit D to help fight Covid. Research has shown that BAME victims, which make up a large percentage of sufferers, tend to be deficient in it due to living in Northern climes.

My orthopaedic surgeon recommended Vit B with calcium for bone density to support artificial joints. I also take glucosamine, cod liver oil, multivitamins, evening primrose oil and garlic tablets! It’s difficult to tell if they help but I dread to think what I’d be like without them!!

When I celebrated my 21st, my cheeky flat mates wrote in my card: “Keep taking the tablets!”

Who am I to ignore such good advice?!!

Ashcombe Mon 07-Dec-20 07:06:44

Oops - typo - that should say Vit D!!

Whitewavemark2 Mon 07-Dec-20 07:11:53

Vit D and B complex for years.

Urmstongran Mon 07-Dec-20 07:23:20

None.

I think a good and varied diet is sufficient. I recall years ago a nurse saying they just give you expensive wee!

Calendargirl Mon 07-Dec-20 07:24:09

Cod liver oil, chewable vitamin c.

Take prescribed vitamin d & calcium for osteoporosis.

dogsmother Mon 07-Dec-20 07:31:41

Vit D because the cod liver oil (common source) always comes back at me. Glucosamine and chondroitin because I’ve galloping arthritis. The rest I rely on a balanced diet for. I do eat well.

GardenerGran Mon 07-Dec-20 07:47:01

Prescribed D3 Vit D with calcium as blood test revealed I was low. Will take forever to hopefully ward off osteoporosis as sisters’ have been diagnosed with it. Sometimes Vit B complex for energy.

Willow500 Mon 07-Dec-20 08:08:32

Yes vitamin D as I also heard it could help with Covid.

Marmight Mon 07-Dec-20 08:19:51

Turmeric, CBD, VitD

Lazyriver Mon 07-Dec-20 08:37:07

I have tried many supplements over the years and often felt like I should rattle. Some are foolers as they need to be combined to work.
So now I have returned to a powder that has everything in it, but hard to get at the moment, so running low. I have fibromyalgia and find this helps.
I also take glucosomine, chondroitin, MSM for joints. You need to find the right one though as not all work.
Trial and error
