Shaving

After years and years of wet shaving my DH has bought himself an electric shaver - fine, that wasn't a problem.
But having taken it out of the box on the kitchen table and playing around with its various gadgets and attachments he's now started leaning on the counter and shaving whilst looking out of the window!
Today I suggested it wasn't exactly hygienic to shave over the counter where I prepare food, and he's taken this as a huge insult and stopped speaking.
Am I being unreasonable?
The thought of tiny hairs scattered around the kitchen make my skin crawl.

Why doesn’t he shave in the bathroom?

GagaJo Tue 02-May-23 18:39:13

I hate that 'post shaving' scattering of clipped hair. Even when it IS in the sink.

Why is he doing it there?

CanadianGran Tue 02-May-23 18:39:42

Not unreasonable at all; yuk!

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 02-May-23 18:47:45

Disgusting. Shaving should be done in the bathroom. And any clippings cleared away. By him.

grumppa Tue 02-May-23 18:59:58

I always shave, and trim my beard, in the bathroom.

You should hop up onto the counter and clip your toe nails and see what he says about that Exdancer

Theexwife Tue 02-May-23 19:04:29

Serve him some food with a scattering of his clippings in it.

Norah Tue 02-May-23 19:13:42

Unacceptable.

I asked Mr C what he thought. His appalled expression said it all.

Hetty58 Tue 02-May-23 19:20:21

I expect he didn't like the way you said it. Saying it wasn't hygienic implies his face is filthy and germ infested. I'm sure he'd agree that nobody likes thought of hair in food, though.

The silent treatment would simply compound my fury! It is so childish.

ExDancer Tue 02-May-23 19:31:26

Notagran smile if I could hop onto the counter I would love to cut my toenails (if I could still reach my toenails) on there! What a lovely thought!

We are having a new bathroom fitted my DH has taken to shaving in the en-suite over the loo. I have told him I don’t appreciate sitting on his shavings what is it with men they just don’t listen. I cannot wait for the bathroom to be completed it’s driving me mad!

Isn’t that one of the things an en suite is for- including showering, make up, teeth brushing, washing, using the loo - and….shaving?

I was once in a car with my boss, he shaved with an electric razor whilst driving with one hand at up to 100 miles an hour. My disgust at him and my horror at both held no bounds. I’ll never forget it, breathing in his hair clippings and being terrified and holding on for dear life at the same time.

Yuk! Shaving should be done in the bathroom. You are not being unreasonable he is, and to stop talking is very childish

YANBU. I would hate that.

Shelflife Tue 02-May-23 23:04:31

Ex Dancer , read him the riot act, his behaviour is disgusting!!!! Why would he do that!?. The bathroom is the place to shave not a kitchen. I would hate that, good luck ,!

Scottiebear Thu 04-May-23 13:40:34

He should still shave in the bathroom.

EEJit Thu 04-May-23 13:44:48

Nope, you are notbeing unreasonable. I do my trimming in the correct place, the bathroom

March1 Thu 04-May-23 13:55:10

My husband and I are at loggerheads over hygiene matters. I'm constantly biting my tongue, wanting to remind him to wash his hands etc. Feel like I'm reprimanding a child, and can't find a way to say it that doesn't rile him!

Coco51 Thu 04-May-23 14:08:28

Add a few hairs on his plate?

Gundy Thu 04-May-23 14:41:48

Put a stop to that immediately! If he refuses to do it in the bathroom, send him to the garage!
Yuck!
