bullion stitch

I have just finished the Rose Fairy doll (Patons pattern book 3806) and attempted the eyes usung recommended bullion stitch. However, they don't look right, I saw some instructions on the net, but still a bit confused. I am not unpicking yet again, am sure DGD2 will like her when she comes despite the doll's slightly wonky eyes.

Children under seven have yet to acquire a great deal of critical thinking and accept things as they are. I am sure that anything made by Grandma will be lovingly accepted with joy.
