..........Terry meets Julie, Waterloo Station
Every Friday niiiiiight.

La, la, la laaaa.

Fans of the The Kinks should hot-foot it to the Harold Pinter theatre to see and enjoy this fantastic production!

I went last night and was transported back 50 years! (yep, 1964)

Can't believe so much time has passed - I need a lie down grin

1964 must be one of my favourite years, Riverwalk. So many lovely things were happening in my life and the music was great.

I loved the Kinks.

Saw Ray Davis in his one man show last year. Excellent, he sang all the old favourites and autobiographied in between. Apparently 'Terry and Julie' were inspired by Julie Christie and Terrance Donovan.

I was also surprised that when I lived in London, he lived round the corner! Obviously we did not mix in the same circles - toddler groups! X

I would love to see that! I thought the Kinks were wonderful and quite lusted over Ray Davies blush!
Wish we lived closer so that we could go.

I was hoping it would go on tour, but not so far.
I looked up Waterloo Sunset, and got nothing about it. The show is called Sunny Afternoon, another good one of theirs.
1964 was when I met my husband, complete with guitar and Beatles haircut.

Love the Kinks. I too lusted after Ray Davies but only quite recently found out he is gay. There go all my illusions and fantasies sad

merlotgran Sat 15-Nov-14 18:09:02

I didn't know that either, Agus sad hmm

J52 Sat 15-Nov-14 18:17:10

He was married to Chrissie Hind.

Ray Davies isn't gay.

His brother Dave had a few homosexual relationships, (as well as many hetero ones!).

merlotgran Sat 15-Nov-14 18:27:02

Snap, Ana DH has just told me Ray Davies was married three times and Dave Davies is bi-sexual

Agus Sat 15-Nov-14 18:57:10

I have just googled Ray Davies, as I should have done in the first place. True enough he is not gay. That's a relief, not that I have much chance mind you!

I was told this info with such conviction, ie it's common knowledge!! So, apologies to those Ray Davies listers I may have upset. wink

Agus Sat 15-Nov-14 18:58:01

Lusters even. Blooming spellcheck!

Ana Sat 15-Nov-14 19:18:52

Yes, well, I actually lusted after Dave...grin

Agus Sat 15-Nov-14 19:32:07

Oh, I wouldn't have kicked him out of bed either Ana blush

I met the Kinks when I was 13 in 1963. Has a signed copy of You Really Got Me which I sold for £75 ages ago so goodness knows what it's worth now.

1964 was the year I became a teenager. I loved The Kinks. I would love to see the production of Waterloo Sunset. I hope it tours the north of England. There are often good shows on at the Sunderland Empire. I'll have to keep a lookout.

I got the title wrong it's Sunny Afternoon - obviously the past 50 years has taken its toll grin

But Waterloo Sunset is what I've been humming all weekend!
