Book folding.

Never tried it but I've seen some fabulous stuff! Isn't it amazing! Take a look at the examples on Pinterest and swoon...

We've just done bookfolding with the Guides, they made Christmas trees, very simple to do but needs patience. Once the girls knew what they had to do they sat working and chatting. It was a really relaxed meeting and girls were really pleased with the results.

No, I've not tried it, but like mollie I've seen some amazing creations on Pinterest. It all looks incredibly difficult to do, such precision folding and so intricate, so I've kind of been put off even considering trying it!

Blimey! I've never come across that before. Isn't it great? I just watched a couple of tutorials on you tube. I do a bit of origami and I struggle with some of those folds, so don't know how I'd get along with book folding. Might have to have a little go though.

We sell crafts in the library and currently have a stall of some fabulous examples. The Christmas tree is great!

Alea, thanks for the link to the cat wrapping. What a lovely, patient cat. When we had ours, and I laid out paper dress patterns on the floor, he would always come and gently check out that I had all the pieces the right way round.

Sorry, went off piste on that reply. When we had an activity day at Church, one of them was folding an origami crane. I couldn't get it, and ended up attaching the cotton threads so they could fly. I then found a book on origami with the degree of difficulty noted on the back-simple. Well that's me then, not even up to simple standard.

A new hymn-book was introduced recently in the Catholic Church here in Germany and lots of ideas for folding the (very thin) pages were circulating.

The cat wrapping was hilarious. However did it stay still all the time?

We have a library Christmas Tree at the Tree Festival in the village church. One of our volunteers made a garland of origami stars from old book pages.

One of the most moving sights I have ever seen is all the origami cranes, made by children, in the Peace Park in Hiroshima. It has made me well up just thinking about it.

I can't make those either. ExDiL (who is Japanese) had a friend who made the most fantastic things whilst seemingly watching the TV using absolutely no instructions.

You will notice that this post is all about things other people have made.

Cranes are about the only origami thing I can make without instructions. I was acting out a Noggin the Nog story once with my GS when he was younger. We made characters out of pegs, and he wanted a dragon, so I made a paper crane and stuck on some dragonny bits. He was most impressed that it flapped its wings, and took it to school to show his teacher. He still has it on his dressing table, four years later, a bit the worse for wear though! Loved the cat wrapping video! What a gorgeous cat. None of mine would have put up with that!

I've done book and magazine folding and made Christmas trees, angels, hedgehogs, bird cages and 3D type picture sculptures. It's very easy and primarily just uses two folds. Some look better sprayed with colour others look great just in black and white.

Love the cat wrapping. Reminded me how our cat (long gone) would always come and sit in the middle of any paper (news or wrapping) spread out on a table, or the floor, and look very offended if you tried to move her!
