Picking brains re blackout curtain linings.

You could think of blackout blinds; cheap and easy to buy and install and not much effort!! You can get child-safe pulleys too

It is well worth doing. I put blackout lining in the spare room curtains when DGS was little and he slept better. There was some left over and we tuck it over our curtains (small cottage window). We sleep very well in the dark but wake early in the light mornings if we haven't put it up.

That's exactly what I have done Witzend on all bedroom windows which are south facing. Works perfectly well.

Still, if it doesn't turn up they have it in John Lewis, £7 a metre, not too ruinous since they're not very big curtains. If dd wants, will measure up this week. Shouldn't take long. Nothing like the 2 enormous cushions I've recently made for a big seating area in their garden! Hadn't used the sewing machine for so long, I'd almost forgotten how to use it!

I have one of those, trisher and it's great. We have a street light bang outside the house and ordinary linings let in its light round the edges. With the blind there's complete blackout.

If you don't want to take on the work you can buy a blackout blind that sticks to the window. GD has one-so useful it can be moved and taken on holiday.

Yes you can Witzend. I've done it myself. .You can probably still buy the kind of Rufflette sold for detachable curtain linings. If not just buy the very narrow one.
