Can anyone help? I was surprised at how beautifully my Aldi aran was coming along, the yarn is lovely. I have almost finished my sweater and, horror of horrors, I have run out of yarn. I've looked at every kind of yarn available in Hobbycraft, Abakhan and all the pound shops and the colour just doesn't match up. Has anyone got any Aldi aran cream bought last year (2016)? I will willingly pay for it and postage too of course.

Aldi have a wool event on Thursday.

I bought some grey flecked chunky knitting wool from Aldi last year and a knitting book and it was brilliant for hats and scarves. Will have a look this week for some more. Can't help with the cream sorry!

I haven't used heir Aran for a while I'm afraid; I mostly buy their DK. Could you email their customer services and see if they can help?

Have to get round early otherwise it will all be sold out.

Thank you everyone. Early start for me on Thursday.

Take a ball of the yarn you have already because the dye number will probably be different and you need to get as near as possible. It may not vary much at all, especially with cream but sometimes the dye varies slightly.

ps I would take a half used ball in case they think you're trying to 'lift' it wink

Good luck

When it isn't in the stores, Aldi sell yarn online. They are doing a hobby event on Thursday so I've given my husband a list. ☺

Jalima Sun 05-Feb-17 14:35:03

I didn't realise they did online.
I wish you hadn't told me that hildajenni grin my stash is getting bigger
going to look now

Jalima Sun 05-Feb-17 14:35:22

if I got off GN my stash would go down

Jalima Sun 05-Feb-17 14:36:36

Ah! mostly in store soon, no temptation as we don't have an Aldi nearby.

Jalima Sun 05-Feb-17 14:38:36

If you have no luck cwasin then you could try asking on somewhere like Ravelry in case anyone has any left over.

Nelliemoser Sun 05-Feb-17 15:09:22

Hildajenni Don't tell me either. I have enough of a stash of yarn as it is. I am about to go online to see what there is.

The problem is in getting the dye lot right. What parts of the garment have you not quite finished? Is there any way you could you could incorporate a substitute colour as a design feature. Cuffs on sleeves or such.

Jalima Sun 05-Feb-17 15:11:32

This has just happened to me and I have done short sleeves in the other dye lot; it is a random pattern though so I'm hoping it will look OK.

Nelliemoser Sun 05-Feb-17 15:18:26

It's a long shot but I just Googled the search term.

"find Odd balls of knitting yarn"

I managed to get some after running out unfinished from a company down south but I cannot remember what the name was. I will have a furtle around.

Just a heads up to this from a couple of weeks ago- Aldi have haberdashery this week and have Aran wool. The op might be lucky!
