It is just as well it does wash out, Annie Those colours are certain to show through the stitching.

It is most strange jusnoneed, the work is pink roses in a cream/beige vase, painted on the Aida the roses are blue, green , red depending on the shade of pink , the vase is purple, orange , green, black for the different creams and beige , sounds odd I know , stitching pink onto a blue square , cream onto purple

Ah I didn't realise it washed away, have never done one of these. Hope you can manage to solve the problem.

If I wash the Aida I wash off the pattern. I will have the paper pattern enlarged , thank you x

As it's the holes in the fabric causing the problem I wonder if you washed it they would open a bit - presuming the dye/paint is washable of course. It should soften the fabric a little.

Ilovecheese Wed 22-Aug-18 12:37:25

Can you see the holes on the back of the fabric?
Then push the needle through from the back.

Annie do you have a computer printer at home? if you could scan the document in, you might be able to enlarge the image and print it..

My elder granddaughter told me she would be home for Christmas, don’t want to wait untill December to start !

Thank you x

Using the right thread milly.

Elegran I have to use one of those wire thingies too

Elegran Wed 22-Aug-18 11:11:03

But then, Milly she would have a smaller needle to thread. As the real problem is being unable to read the charts, threading a tiny needle-eye would be difficult too (says I who always use one of those wire thingies to thread a needle).

I have PMed you, Annie

millymouge Wed 22-Aug-18 10:42:26

I may be wrong but just wonder if you are using embroidery thread. The threads are usually in 6, if you could take these down to two or three you could use a smaller needle and this might help. Not very good at explaining that.

Yes Elegran but am unable to get to the print shop, there was a paper chart enclosed with the kit but it’s small, I did ask on our local site if someone could take it for me if they were going there but the replies were from several who do shopping for people, £20 a shop !

Elegran Wed 22-Aug-18 10:22:32

Annie Could you see the charts if they were enlarged?

Anniebach Wed 22-Aug-18 09:58:59

I gave up stitching because had difficulty reading the chart. Lost without stitching in evenings.

Saw a completed stamped cross stitch on a stitching site, ordered a kit , so looking forward to stitching again.

Can’t get the needle through the Aida, dye is so thick the holes can’t be seen .

Anyone had success with one of these kits please ?
