I’ve just finished my patchwork quilt, every stitch by hand and used only fabrics I was given.
It was intended for my own bed but now it’s done I’m not sure. I started it at New Year when my beloved Cavalier was unwell. I sat with her, sewing hexagons, all through January, then she died.
I’ve been sewing daily ever since and have a darling puppy but my quilt makes me sad and is on the spare bed.
I think I’ll start a new one.

Wonderful when you feel you've achieved something watermeadow. I love quilting but by machine. My hand sewing is appalling ?

watermeadow What a sad time for you. The memories of sewing that quilt with your companion by your side are to be treasured .
There may come a time when it is slightly easier to be around the quilt.
My best wishes flowers

As gmelon says, leave the quilt on the spare bed, or even put it away. The day will come when you will see it and it will bring a smile to your face. Such a lovely achievement. On the other hand, a handsewn quilt is such a lovely gift. I don't know if anyone close in your family might like it? You would know it is appreciated, but not have to deal with the feelings it brings to you of sadness.
Whatever you decide, don't stop making quilts, it is a lovely hobby!

Oh...and where is the picture of it? I want to see it!

Oh I opened this thread in the hope of seeing a,picture of the finished quilt. I’m quite jealous watermeadow as I haven’t got a talented bone in my entire body.
