Isn't there an alternative? If your house needs a lot of work and you cannot do it for whatever reason, I can see why you want to move, but if you are both healthy and well, I think you may find a flat in a sheltered setting may be too much of an extreme as an alternative.
You do not say whether you own your house or whether it is rented. If you sell the house, you could probably buy a park home, although this needs to be done with care, or a flat in an ordinary block of flats.
If it is rented privately, the landlord can be compelled to do repairs.
