A fairy on top of my Christmas tree - Help!

I have looked for my old one all over the place (she was due a refurbishment) and I can't find one. Panic overcomes me as I cant have my tree without a fairy! I remember there was a thread, maybe last Christmas? About refurbishing fairies for the tree. I wonder if anyone has any idea about actually making one? I have been thinking about it, and cannot see a problem with making the clothes, needle and thread I can do. But does anyone have any ideas about a little doll I could buy or make? Most dolls these days are rather large, chunky and heavy, so not really good for purpose. Hoping someone can inspire me!

Do craft shops sell dolls?
I'm sure they must do..

There are some examples of fairies made from a clothes peg and paper or lace doily if you do a Google search. Pegs or dolls for sale on Ebay with delivery before Christmas. I hope you find what you are looking for. I bet your old one will turn up after you have made a replacement.

Before you look online, most village WI school craft fairs have angels for sale, so look out locally for one.

How about a star instead you can twist one with a coat hanger and some tinsel?

Maybe an old Barbie doll would be the right size for an Angel if you can find one.
Even new they're not so expensive.
Then you can customize it just as you want to.

Some good ideas, but I am in Spain so the craft fairs angel idea is out, unfortunately. I could do a star, but I am an angel/fairy sort of person! I was thinking of toddling off to the Spanish equivalent of a pound shop to see if I can find a little doll there. The dolls they have in this sort of shop, being cheap and nasty, tend to be lighter and made of thinner plastic. Might be just the ticket. Will keep you posted. The clothes peg idea is a good one too, if I cannot find a doll of my liking (being a picky old mare, as I am)

I prefer an angel or star. Have a look at wooden spoon dolls on Google as an alternative.

When visiting Spain, I’ve always found the Ale-up (?sp) shops a wonderful source of that type of thing. Have you one near you?

Just googled them Ale-Hop. They’re also on line.

My fairy looks like an ex Sumo wrestler! was one of my earlier attempts at knitting, but I have grown fond of her even though she looks very unfairylike.

Lots of Fairy/Angels on Etsy. So different styles and prices.
Have a Look

good ideas, ladies. Ale hop is marvelous, J52, hadn't thought of them. I don't have one local, i live in a small village, but then I did not know that they are online (rushes off to investigate)

Aw Billybob4491, yay for sumo wrestling fairies. Truth is, traditions are special, aren't they?

My tree fairy is looking slightly bedraggled this year so I may have to look for a new one. Fortunately, an abundance of Christmas shops have sprung up around here.

I would look on Pinterest how to make a Xmas Angel.
Lots of ideas there on anything!

It is a possibility, oldgaijin. See how things are at the weekend, and if I have the time. Otherwise I will have to put a little Santa I have on top of the tree this year.
