Quality Barbie Clothes

Hello. My 8 year old wants some new clothes for her Barbies. I have looked in the shops and there isn't much available.

There are some on Amazon but some appear (from the reviews) to be really badly made. Would any of you know a good supplier of dolls clothes - or maybe make them to sell yourself? Thanks.

Look on Folksy.com and type Barbie into the search bar. Quite a lot there, hand made so probably better quality than mass produced.

Trawl the charity shops we gets lots of dolls clothes including hand made and vintage ones usually go very very cheaply well worth an ask

Thanks to you both. Folksy do indeed have some nice things (not just dolls clothes either.) I have popped in a couple of the local charity shops, they had nothing today but will keep looking in them. smile

I knitted some lovely clothes for GD's Barbies - in a smart "Jacquieline Onnassis style" - by using patterns which I found online. For most of these patterns you need 4ply wool and very fine needles, but in the end I used "less fine" needles, (because I found that the recommended size were so hard to use) and the larger size needles seemed to work well. I'm not a brilliant knitter but I managed to make these, successfully.

I once bought a bundle of Barbie dolls for my GGD's from the BHF ebay charity site and the clothes they were dressed in were beautiful. Some knitted/crocheted, tailoured suits and trousers, satin gowns with lace and feathers and a couple in European costume.
The BHF site is brilliant for all your needs.

Barbie clothes are of higher quality than this dress! Image may contain: one or more people and people standing. Image may contain: people standing and text.

When my DC were young you could buy knitting patterns for Barbie, Sindy and Action man clothes. I was tidying a box and came across a selection, one item was a karate suit with different coloured knitted belts so that he could progress to black belt. GD still plays with the dolls and clothes.

You could try Etsy. I think the term 'Barbie' isn't allowed, but you can search for American doll clothes, and also narrow your search in the left hand side bar, to view items from UK sellers.

Hobbycraft sell sewing patterns for Barbie/Sindy clothes. I am sure they would be easy to follow, by hand if you have no machine.

I used to knit and crochet clothes for Sindy and Barbie dolls. Patterns abounded in the 1980s, but sadly, I gave away the few I had. I also designed a wedding dress, complete with tiara and veil, jewellery and bouquet, but never wrote down the instructions for it! I hope my granddaughters never develop a passion for those dolls! They keep me hard at work making things for their baby dolls, as well as for them!
