Has anyone made this pirate?

An Alan Dart knitting pattern.
I do think he's rather splendid, so thinking of making him for Gds.
OTOH it's a 12 page pattern! So an awful lot of work if he doesn't like it. Has anyone else had a success with him?

Isn't he magnificent! I do not knit, alas, only crochet, but if I did, I would certainly tackle him. For me the joy is in the crocheting (in my case) not in the finished product. He just looks like a lovely challenge, I would say go for it, grandson is sure to love him - how old is your little boy?

He's 2 1/2, and rather into pirates at the moment.
I can't crochet, just knit, and no fancy patterns, either.
I downloaded the pattern last night - only £2.50.

I am sure he will LOVE it. My experience of amigurumi (usually crochet, small animals or cartoon caracter type dolls) is that they are a bit fiddly as you have so many colours and only a little bit of each one, but in terms of the pattern itself, they are usually a doddle as they don't use complicated stitches. I suspect this fellow is probably a similar exercise.

Hi Witzend, yes I have made this pirate 3 times and grandsons loved it. It is easy to do (or I wouldn’t have done it).
Go for it I’m sure he will be loved.

Oh, thank you, Nanabanana!
You have 3 lucky grandsons! I've done about 10 pieces out of the 42 (I counted!) so far.
Trying to think of a name now - he's going to be Captain Hook's brother, since Gds is enamoured of Peter Pan at the moment.
Hardnose Hook? Hatchet Hook?
Still deliberating...
