I am thinking of buying a knitting machine, one to do DK and other yarns. Just looking for honest opinions of machines out there.

I’ll be interested to see remarks as well. I had one years ago but they look so different now that I found it very confusing.

I had one years ago too and made lots of things when the children were young. Have not seen one in years, just do hand knitting now.

I had a few , let’s say they work if you want to churn out loads of garments , they work if you are into designing and improvising , they work if you have a room to work in .
My OH found it very irritating as I churned out yet another fairisle cardi or more school cardigans/ jumpers
I prefer hand knitting

I think they just wipe out all the pleasurable aspects of knitting. OK, they're fast, if that's what you want - but hand knitting is relaxing and therapeutic - machines aren't!

I might stick to hand knitting, I can your point.

Mum had a knitting machine many years ago and she made lots of jumpers, etc. At the time the ribbing part was not not very satisfactory but that may be better now.
One thing I will point out though is to make sure you are sitting comfortably as sitting at the machine for any length of time gave me tremendous backache.

I use a knitting loom, very useful for a one handed knitter. Loads of instructional videos on YouTube.

I remember my dad bought one 60+ years ago - he mastered it and knitted coats for my toddler sister. I found it difficult to use. The ribbing had to be done by hand. Even so I bought one 30 years ago, the problem was ribbing, it was tedious, so I got rid of it.
Shropshirelass read up as much as you can about them before you decide
