Finally finished my ‘mongrel’ robin wreath

Sundry bits of it have been lying around for ages. I say ‘mongrel’ because wreath, robins and holly were all from different patterns. The actual wreath was the least fiddly bit!

It will probably go to Gdcs’ school fair raffle in late November, if they would like it.

Lovely

It’s lovely. I would be delighted to win it.

Lovely. I do like the way you always get your projects finished and sewn up!

Gorgeous mongrel Witzend.

PippaZ Fri 01-Oct-21 18:19:23

Love it Witzend.

I love the monochrome simplicity of this with a splash of red and green.

If you want to see something like an explosion in a paint shop, hop over to Attic 24's blog:

Could be pared down and elements borrowed for a less busy version. I love the cute bower bird.

I think it's a pedigree, not a mongrel. Lovely work. Witzend

I would love it. You're so talented smile

Goodness, what a lovely riot of colour! I dread to think how long all this bits would take to make, though - I thought 9 fiddling little holly berries were quite enough!

Well, it’s a good excuse for ignoring the dratted housework - ‘must just get this finished…’
(And on to the next thing…)
I might just whisk a duster around tomorrow, though.

It’s beautiful

I have quite a few little things to sew up, a couple from last Christmas. I've just lost my knitting mojo this past summer.

Witzend No, I'm not a fan of making fiddly bits either but her blog can be an inspiration for using up scraps and making bazaar items. On her current front page, if you scroll down you come to some Yuletide inspiration. I love the orange slices. A cute lapel pin maybe or a few more rounds, some festive coasters - although the raised post stitches might make it a bit lumpy and the mulled wine would topple over. smile

I love it. I wish I was creative.

That’s so sweet Witzend ( I want one!) You should sell your creations on etsy.

Auntieflo Fri 01-Oct-21 19:45:41

Witzend that is beautiful. You are one clever lady, and I would love to have one like it.

VioletSky Fri 01-Oct-21 19:46:41

That is so pretty!

Jaxjacky Fri 01-Oct-21 20:08:43

How do you do that? I’m amazed by both yours and others creativity. I’d happily pay for such a unique piece.

Witzend Fri 01-Oct-21 21:10:56

Thank you, but I’m really not creative as such, jaxjacky - I just follow clever people’s patterns - and how anyone works out how to knit any of those things defeats me - I couldn’t do it if my life depended on it.

Its beautiful ♥️

Oh but you are creative, Witzend. You are taking raw materials and making them in textile art, decorative and useable objects … and inspiring others to try their own hands as making things.

Some months ago you posted about making colourful lengthways scarves, one colour per row and leaving all the ends to make knotted fringes. Inspired by your post, I have been eating through my yarn scrap stash and have made several for Knit for Peace.

If I can tag onto your thread to say what Knit for Peace do and don’t need at the moment:

We need:

blankets: all sizes (baby, child, medium, large and lap)
adult clothes: jumpers/cardigans, scarves, socks, gloves/mitts, dressing gowns, shawls
baby clothes: jumpers/cardigans, hats, mitts, booties
children’s: scarves, socks and mitts
knitted toys for babies and children

We don’t need: hats (child & adult sizes), child jumpers/cardigans, twiddlemuffs, squares and premature baby clothes. Please do not send us any of these items at the moment.

Thank you.

Gosh, it’s really lovely.
I too, would happily buy such a lovely wreath.

Well done.

I’d buy it too. Definitely.

Thanks for the link to Lucy’s blog Early, it looks like good read
