My snowmen are too fat!

I’m making 5 little mini knitted snowmen to go on a knitted wreath - wasn't paying enough attention when stuffing 2 of them, now realise they look frankly obese compared to the others! Luckily the re-makes won’t take long and I can re-use their hats and scarves.
Undoing and partly un-stuffing is likely to be even more of a pain - I sew things up so securely than if I ever have to undo it’s a bugger and a half.
Lately I keep doing daft things like this - another sign of senility creeping up on me? ?

We come in all sizes and shapes Witz even snowmen ⛄️

Joseanne Wed 26-Oct-22 08:49:29

Are they the naughty ones who ate all the mince pies? ? ?

Witzend Wed 26-Oct-22 09:26:49

? Joseanne - I haven’t made any yet, but if I had, dh would have scoffed the lot before they got a look in!

Surely you can arrange them so it looks 'on purpose'? (Two fat ones at the bottom, where they've sunk, or something?)

But snowmen are fat. It's your thin ones that are wrong grin

No such thing as a Too fat snowman!!! ?

Nannagarra Wed 26-Oct-22 09:58:32

Jolly snowmen need to be fat, surely!

Especially with a big wide smile sewn on his face.

They need the fat to keep warm grin

It’s for the school fair raffle stall, so I do want it looking right. I did try the two porkers with the others, but sadly they did spoil the effect.
They do all look very jolly anyway, Nannagarra - and they’re pleasantly plump - certainly not skinny!

Any photos?
I think they should all be different.
Just how fat are they?

Namsnanny Wed 26-Oct-22 10:55:46

I'm forever making a last minute mistake.
Or, deciding last minute that something I thought looked great (rose tinted glasses?) Now looks wrong.
I end up with quite a few nearly finished projectsconfused clogging up my stash.
So well done for having the patience to persevere
I'm sure it will turn out lovely as all your projects do!smile

Here’s one of the pie-eaters with one of his slimmer brethren. I know they don’t look that much different, but with 5 of them on an 11 inch diameter wreath - I’ve made exactly the same before - it does look ‘off’. Much as I wish it didn’t!

They are lovely but I can see what you mean. A little unbalanced. If they don’t take long , could you make two more and still use the tubby ones as tree ornaments ?

Callistemon21 Wed 26-Oct-22 11:39:22

I'd unpick and remove some of their stuffing with tweezers.

They do look as if they ate all the mince pies ??

As ever, your ‘makings’ are brilliant Witzend! These are adorable!

Could you place them on the wreath in such a way that the cuddlier ones are slightly hidden? A carefully placed holly leaf?

To me they look absolutely fine, just leave them as they are… Beautiful little snowmen ????

I wouldn’t want Stepford snowmen!! ?

Thank you for all kind comments! Will post a pic when finally finished.

Could you arrange your lovely snowmen so that the fatter ones are on each side with the slimmer ones on top and below, or alternate them so that they balance each other out? They look perfectly fine to me.

Billybob4491 Wed 26-Oct-22 12:59:52

Witzend make some fat snowballs and place them at the foot of the snowmen, they won't seem so fat then.

I am not envious of beautiful women or slim women but I am envious of talented women like you Witzend -

Lathyrus Wed 26-Oct-22 16:16:24

Could you make another wreath with 5 fat snowmen on it. Or even three if time is short.

I’d buy the that one.

You have the patience of a saint! My daughter gave me a kit to make a nativity scene…..I’ve just had a tantrum over it and rammed it back in the bag.
