I’ve finished all my Christmassy things and now have no excuse for doing the bare minimum of housework.?.

I need another project, don’t I? At least to last me until the annual pre Christmas blitz.

There’s nothing I fancy, though.
I do have a blanket on the go, but that’s reserved for mindless TV knitting after dinner.
At least I’ve cleared all of the sewing up/stuffing paraphernalia away, and much of the knitting ditto.
Shall have to gird up my dusters and get going.

Get the hoover out, do the ironing, clean the bathroom??
When that’s done, catch up with all the dirty laundry, then do some baking.
Time to mow the lawn and sweep up some leaves while you’re at it.
I’m right behind you ( with my book and cup of tea.)

Callistemon Thu 21-Oct-21 09:50:37

I could send you my N set to see up ???

We were shown a completely different method of making cardigans at craft the other day, knitted all in one piece and in fact looked very effective. I started one for Teddy to practise but did find it a tad boring as I prefer crochet (and I went wrong at first but that was lack of concentration).
This is the book (a bit expensive)

Sew up!!

A free cardigan pattern - I must say the ones our instructor had knitted for herself were lovely

It's the same principle for all sizes

There's nearly always something to do (not an excuse) that's more interesting than housework. Unless something is actually urgent minimalising one's housework angst is a jolly good idea.

highlanddreams Thu 21-Oct-21 10:14:09

No need to do housework just now, you're getting it ready for Halloween, so you need to keep the cobwebs and dust ?

Hetty58 Thu 21-Oct-21 10:18:34

Find a really good book - that's my favourite default pastime.

Agree absolutely- I’ll pm you my address and be ready with the pinny and Marigolds.
???

I’ve never suffered from housework angst, Baggs!

highlanddreams, ?.

Me too, Hetty58, I’ve always got 2 on the go (one proper book, one on the Kindle). So the reading never stopped.

Too late, Callistemon! All the sewing up and stuffing mess is banished - for now anyway.

I do like it when it’s all pristine (relatively speaking) which is most usually when guests were coming to stay. I just hate doing it. I’m afraid I’m just bone idle when it comes to certain things.
Unless COVID fouls things up again, we’ll be having guests for 2 nights in early December, so I might even get around to the inside of the windows.

I’d start on Easter things…..

yup, just sprinkle a bit of glitter on them. I prefer the environmental argument, you know the one? Saving the planet one basket of ironing at a time

I did de-cobweb the conservatory last week and used very diluted tea tree oil which seems to have deterred the spiders.

Now I realise I should have left them festooned around for Hallowe'en.

Love the title of your thread Witzend as I take it to mean that if I haven’t finished (started!) my Christmassy things then I DO have an excuse for doing the bare minimum of housework. ?

Deter spiders!? Why?

Because they make cobwebs where flies and bees get caught and zizz around frantically and noisily
I don't mind spiders but not particularly in my house.
I wouldn't kill one, just wave them off!

My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance!
I have these wise words framed and hanging in the kitchen.
Housework is a vicious circle that gets in the way of my leisure/ crafting/gardening time.

Crocheted blanket finished and yes to mindless TV knitting.
Currently on my second, what is known as a Claire from outlanders shawl I came across on Pintrest. Very handy for chilly evenings. What a godsend circular needles are.

I am still attempting to make temari balls as beautiful as yours Baggs. When faced with the array of threads to chose from, I ordered a lot!

These are cute

Says it all for me grin
(And no, apart from ordering some C * cards, I haven’t even thought about the other. blush

Witzend Thu 21-Oct-21 13:08:13

Too tempting, Callistemon! - but I’d need to order yet more yarn, when I’ve been trying to use up my vast stash before ordering any more.
Hence the blanket - double DK g st in random colours.
In the spring, maybe? Once the blanket’s finished, anyway.

MayBeMaw, ? - that’s me to a T, still haven’t even got a duster out.
Excuse so far is that a) I’ve done a food shop, and b) I’m due to go for a COVID booster jab in an hour, so there’s no point in starting any jobs now, is there?

Zoejory Thu 21-Oct-21 13:13:28

We have the largest spiderweb stretching from one side of the porch to the other, In the middle is an extremely large spider who looks at peace with the world. We've had to put a sign up warning people to pass with care and duck if necessary

Absolutely not - you need to be in the "zone" for your booster and shopping (even online) counts as an activity!
It used to be just about a whole morning or afternoon for me and exhausting so easily worth the same brownie points online!

I don't mind spiders but the ones in our conservatory are not toilet trained (no matter how hard I try!).

As I read the title of this thread I guessed it was you Witzend

Its a strange feeling of 'Oh what now?' when projects are uptodate, isn't it?

Small steps with the housework. After all your guests aren't due until December are they? grin
