Driving home last night with DGD 4 we drove past a care home with all the lights on and curtains open and she said "Grandma look at the old peoples hotel they have got a Christmas tree.".

My grandaughter informed her mother that she would like her brother to share her room when he was older. My daughter, delighted, said 'how nice. Maybe you could have bunk beds'. Grandaughter said 'yes. Brother and I can sleep on the top bunk and you and daddy on the bottom one' Not what my daughter had in mind!!

This is opening the floodgates isn't it?
The one thing you should remember is that your offspring's grandchildren's bons mots will never seem as cute to others as they do to their loving parents grandparents. It's like telling people your dreams - your perception of how fascinating they are is rarely matched by the listener.
Having bah-humbugged, my DGS (2 1/2) yestrerday said he wanted frankincense for Christmas. I suppose I'd better send the Gruffalo trunki back to Amazon and see if they stock it.

Until they were five, my GDs insisted that Santa's alternative name was 'Farmer Christmas'!

When my GSwas about 5yrs old he was reprimanded for saying "Oh God!"

We were at a Carol Concert where Choir and audience were singing, "The Virgin Mary had a Baby Boy", when my nine yr. old GDD pulled my sleeve asked,"Grand-dad, What's a Virgin?". Hurried confusion on my part: Well dear , it's er, a lady who has not got a husband". GDD. "Oh, what about the baby?" Me. "Well, do you remember the Archangel Gabriel came down to see Mary?" GDD, Oh - It was him, was it!"

That was many years ago now and GDD, now 17 does not like being reminded of it!

gracesmum if you want frankincense I have some. I bought a lot of that and myrrh back from Istanbul for the local church schools along with the little boxes! I told them they had to provide their own gold though!

Lunch at the chocolate shop for a treat for my twin grandsons, almost five. One came skipping back from the toilets with mum, who said 'he's very impressed with the Ladies.'

Ten minutes later, he wanted to go again, so I took him. 'This is my very favourite toilet, nana!'

'Oh, that's good. I'm glad you like it.'

We walked back to the dining room and he chirped up 'do you know why that's my favourite toilet, nana?' The manager pricked up his ears as we walked past him.

Me, reluctantly, knowing I am walking into the trap 'ok, why is it your favourite toilet?'

'Cos I can watch my wee go round the bowl!'

The grukkalo Trunki will be a huge hit gracesmum my grandson had one when he was three and we all went to Italy. He rode it everywhere and it made the whole journey so much easier,

Millie age 4 lying in my lap on the sofa. 'Granny have you got a baby in your tummy? Me 'No Millie Grannies don't have babies' Millie 'Oh I just wondered because it's quite big you know' And having lost over 2 stone in weight I thought I was reasonably slim again!!

Three year old grandson throws his brother's box of baby wipes to the ground and energetically jumps on it.
"What are you doing?" asks his mother.

Grandaughter at 3 or 4 asked how old I was. At the time I said 63 or 64 (can't remember now) but her churning and computing brain could almost be heard with that look of disbelieving bewilderment and thoughtful look on her face. She then, after ponderous thought, asked "Grandad, did you start at one"!
I guess in young minds no one can be as old as grandparents seem to be. I guess mum and dad are as old as anyone should be. Bless their innocent liitle brain cells.

In a similar veign to Cheelu's original post my daughter was picked up from her first day at the village school which she had been biting at the bit to attend many years ago now (30 to be precise) and when mum brought her home I was told that when asked how she had enjoyed big girls school she replied it was wonderful and could she please, please go again tomorrow! If only she knew she had another 17 years to go.

Blimey, ps, what kind of school was that where she spent 17 years?

At present something on the lines of Da da ba ba nan ga ga delivered with very conversational intonation. Its not every body's type of humor but it makes this very doting Nanan laugh.

My mother never got over the night when I was about three and started screaming about something. She was undressing for bed, so came rushing in to me stark naked. Apparently I was so shocked I yelled "Where your nightie? You put it on!" and completely forgot whatever it was I'd been screaming about.
