My long dead great grandfather, so many questions regarding his particular line in my genealogy research. Every time I find something else out about his family, it poses another question. Also I have copies of letters his father sent him in 1867 and 1870, I'd love the opportunity to go through them with him line by line and find out more about his parents. I know everything there is to know about most of my other ancestors and it's not that interesting, but this particular side of the family is.

Leonardo da Vinci.

Rod Steward

BAnanas Tue 15-Jan-13 15:02:53

OMG didn't read the post properly, apologies, it said apart from family so that wouldn't include great grandfather.

cheelu Tue 15-Jan-13 15:05:58

BAnanas thats fine your post sounded really interesting and alot of people can relate to that.

jo7 dont worry your not going mad--there are two similar posts--one saying -apart from family- x x

j07 Tue 15-Jan-13 15:11:10

Oh! Right!

You can't mess up the boards willy nilly like that!

soop Tue 15-Jan-13 15:12:08

jings I'm guessing that you're on another thread which is very similar.
I would choose either the Dalai Lama or, if he's available, Placido Domingo. The former because he's wise. smile The latter because he's dishy. wink

Nelliemoser Tue 15-Jan-13 15:31:22

Soop I know you bagsed them first, but I would like either of them.

Also Neil Oliver the Scottish archeologist and television presenter, he is gorgeous that voice and those eyes and he is interesting on his subject.

Nelliem has an attack of the vapours. blush

Also my late paternal grandmother. A clever, but wayward teenager from a respectable home in Liverpool who had my father out of wedlock in 1915 when she was 18. She left him with loving foster parents in Leicester but lived a rather chaotic life until settling in North Wales in the early 1950s. She was only re discovered to my dad and our family about 2yrs after her death at the age of 96. She could say who my dads father was and close a recent family history black hole. Was it her stepmother's younger brother who was in the household in 1911?

Deep breath Nellie Can't have you coming over all faint. Who is that good looking chap on Antiques Road Show...he deals in art? Lurve his voice. smile

Movedalot Tue 15-Jan-13 16:33:52

My mother who died in 1969 months before her 47th birthday. My father had died in 1965 so by the time I was 24 years old I'd lost both parents. There were so many times I needed her, wanted to talk and laugh with her.

cheelu Thu 17-Jan-13 02:08:56

dorsetpennt I am sorry sweet, Mums are important people as are Dads I got to keep my Mum n Dad a bit longer than that but still cry about loosing them even now years later,,I think the upside is that we were both lucky to have loving parents that loved us.. I do try to think how lucky I am compared to children that loose their parent young x

Elizabeth I would be an interesting companion and a good conversationalist. Anne Hathaway would throw some light on questions concerning her husband as well as being a prime candidate for Gransnet given her commitment to her family and Will's extreme liking of women (she was clearly something quite special).

soop Thu 17-Jan-13 11:58:23

absent...is it really you? smile

gillybob Thu 17-Jan-13 12:04:45

The late Princess Diana. I would have her dish the dirt !!

We could have a mutual un-appreciation society ! grin

petra Thu 17-Jan-13 20:29:51

Any Priminister of the day; to put them straight on a few things. I know it would take longer than a day but I would give it a lot of thought before hand.

annodomini Thu 17-Jan-13 20:33:52

Mary Robinson, first female President of Ireland and an international advocate of human rights. One of the most interesting women of our age.
