Does anyone watch this, My husband watches it and he drives me mad, he hates it when they take the money and there is still £250.000 on the board and he goes on and on and does the same every time he watches it!!!!!! Also he is convinced that its all a con and the producers know what box the money is....

Nanado Thu 17-Jan-13 16:47:12

Never heard of it wink

We watch it! Always think some people are too greedy. Our friends sometimes go and watch the recording of it, and she is waiting to go on and deal!

OH watches it and behaves exactly like your husband cheelu, I'm always saying I don't know why you bother if its all a con... he still comes and finds me and tells me all about each episode blow by blow...grin

Oh my word same here tanith, I try and avoid it because he just makes me laugh how he gets all angry at the TV and he comes and tells me what has happened, Im so glad I am not alone with this, its so funny isn't it....

Know nothing about it, and think I'll leave it that way. Is it one of those odd late afternoon programmes of which one catches a glimpse before the 6 o'clock new?

cheelu Thu 17-Jan-13 18:02:43

Its on around 4 or 5pm I think.. I watched it at the beginning but it has now become a bit same o same o not to mention mind numbingly boring...

Just weird! I watched it once when it first started. It's a lottery but the contestants and the presenter seemed to think there was skill involved in making a guess!

I can't watch it because I saw it once and the egregious Noel Edmonds was gloating because the contestant had made the wrong decision. I also thought it was ridiculous when he was asking people to deliver the right number, as if they had any control over it.

The person on the day I watched was offered a large amount of money but their greed got the better of their common sense (and understanding of probability) and they went on and won a few quid.

I enjoy quizzes where some intelligence is involved, or things like The Cube where manual dexterity is needed. Deal or No Deal appears to consist simply of people opening boxes at random.

I never started watching it because I cannot stand Noel Edmonds. Something about him sets my teeth on edge. hmm

Nanado Thu 17-Jan-13 19:04:24

Why are we discussing this?

Ana Thu 17-Jan-13 19:12:22

Because a thread was started. Why are you reading it, Nanado? confused

Nanado Thu 17-Jan-13 19:18:52

That's what I was asking myself Ana wink

“he is convinced that its all a con and the producers know what box the money is....”

Why would the producers bother risking the consequences of being found out? Especially when just letting it play out is equally entertaining, when you consider large number theory, given enough games all possibilities will emerge. What gets my goat with the game is contestant’s, with their greed goggles on, insistence on relying on special/magic numbers and ignoring probability; then bursting into floods of tears when it doesn’t go their way.

I find Noel Edmunds childish behaviour rather insulting to some of the contestants and he can be quite rude ,Seems like he is still on childrens TV

Tegan Thu 07-Feb-13 12:08:42

I can't watch the programme; there's something so irritating about him. I wish they'd bring back 15-1 [I loved that programme].

Tegan Thu 07-Feb-13 12:11:58

I also think the programme encapsulates everything that is wrong with our society these days, being about both 'fifteen minutes of fame without having to have any particular talent' and 'get rich quick' without actually working for it. Both of which a lot of young people seem to aspire to these days.

annodomini Thu 07-Feb-13 12:31:29

Have never watched it - just the name of Noel Edmunds was enough to put me off and it sounds as if I was right.

annodomini Thu 07-Feb-13 12:32:43

Ah, just noticed that I said almost the same thing on Jan 17th. Sorry!
