I've got it recorded but haven't watched it yet. I've always loved rock pools. The ones in North Devon were wonderful but never seemed to be quite as good after the Torrey Canyon. We are too far from the sea now to pop down with my grandson, but when we lived in Cornwall I used to spend hours scouring the pools with the children.

It's repeated tonight at 11 on BBC4.

Thanks for that POGS my 7 year old granddaughter is fascinated with all kinds of sea creatures at the minute and this will be right up her street. I do hope we can find it on Catch Up TV. We have some fantastic rock pools within walking distance of my house and thanks to your reminder I will make a point of taking my three down there soon. smile

I still love rock-pooling. Unfortunately no grandkids here to share the pleasure with - but one day hopefully. smile

We used to love rock pooling when we used to go down to Swanage when they were all small .

The thing we do now with our GC is crabbing , they just love as does Grandad , I watch ,to make sure no-one falls off the jetty , as do get excited .

Then comes releasing ceremony and counting how many have been caught . All great fun .

My children loved nothing better than rock pooling during our regular holidays in Cornwall. I'm so looking forward to taking our three year old grandson for the first time this summer. smile

Saw it last night by the way must apologise for lack of punctuation because pooter has gone wierd Our favourite beach used to be Port Quin in Cornwall because if the weather was bad we would just spend the day looking in the rock pools Never forget finding a pool full of hermit crabs What caught my attention was seeing the cuttlefish {my favourite sea creatures have long been fascinated by them} so then watched the rest of the programme and caught the beginning when it was shown again It was absolutely fascinating especially the bit where the hermit crabs swopped shells now to try and sort the pooter out technophobe help needed methinks

I might be on my own with this one but here goes.

I taped the BBC 4 prog.(tuesday 16th) The Secret Life of Rock Pools. I watched it with my GD today, she is almost 7years old and we enjoyed talking about it as it went along. Obviously as we had experience of catching, holding most of the creatures spoken of it had a meaning for her.

To be fair it went a little above her head in detail but we enjoyed talking about our many rock pool holidays and it was lovely. It was better than watching CBBC. I thought she would get bored but I was surprised how much she took in and was really interested.

She said at the end "I can't wait for my holiday nan". Not everyones cup of tea but if you have GC who you take them rock pooling it just 'might' be worth a try. Just saying.
