I have eggs every day - this morning two fried in a splash of olive oil, couple of anchovies on top, toast and coffee.

I like talking food ... might explain why I'm a stone overweight!

I chop and change in what I eat at breakfast. I used to like porridge in the cold months but have now gone off it. Currently I am into having something on toast - tomatoes, mushrooms, cheese, baked beans, spaghetti in tomato sauce (tinned) or even sardines.

I have a boilled egg and toast most mornings and a piece of fruit or freshly squeezed orange juice before. Breakfast is not to be rushed and I enjoy two large cups of filter coffee after my egg.

This was breakfast when my husband was alive and I see nowt to change it.

Riverwalk I, too, like talking about food and am a little overweight!

I mostly have porridge with a combination of fruits, otherwise it will be a boiled egg, toast, fruit. I wash it down with a large mug of decaffeinated tea.

If we're not going out DH likes to cook a full English (I have a small version) we like to have orange juice with this. Otherwise I have cereal, DH will have some toast with his butter grin We both have a couple of cups of tea no matter what.

Yummy !!

For most of the year, it's a poached egg on a small slice of granary toast with some spicy relish. Now that it's colder I am having porridge, skimmed milk and no sugar but a tiny drizzle of maple syrup. At least four mugs of coffee before I can function fully.

I have Muesli most days of the week. I never tire of it and often eat it whilst doing something else. I am always rushing around on a morning and probably should get up earlier. A cooked breakfast is a very rare treat for me.

I have taken to Quaker Oat Crisp cereal - a little goes a long way - but can't find it anywhere but Sainsbury's. I have it with yoghourt and fruit - banana, stewed apple or apricots.

Usually its porridge with a few blueberries sprinkled on top. Once or twice a week I have a cooked breakfast as a treat!

Charleygirl Thu 14-Nov-13 18:55:01

2 slices of toast with butter then marmalade or honey every day of the week with a cup of coffee.

janeainsworth Thu 14-Nov-13 19:05:23

Porridge oats soaked in milk for half an hour at least (whoever gets up to make the tea to be drunk in bed does this), with stewed prunes and apricots and a tablespoon of plain yoghurt. Occasionally fresh fruit insted of the prunes/apricots.

Summer its Bran Flakes or Shredded Wheat with fresh raspberries and Winter its porridge with brown sugar and fruit.. occasionally I'll cook a full English or egg on toast but as a rule its cereal or porridge.

Gally Thu 14-Nov-13 19:29:20

Porridge with a dollop of Manuka honey, some raspberries and blueberries, occasionally followed by wholemeal toast with marmite although I have a thing about Ikea orange and elderflower marmalade at the moment. On high days and holidays, I have a poached egg on toast. Three tulsi tea if I feel healthy, or builders tea if I don't.
I feel so hungry reading these posts, it's making my stomach rumble shock

oops - got carried away ....

Usually toast with marmalade. Love marmalade Tipp Tree is my favourite or anything home made without too many bits.

Aurelia Thu 14-Nov-13 20:51:46

Something cakey, pain aux raisins or madeleines, Nutella often features too, great on hot toast buttered with salted butter. Lashings of tea or hot chocolate.
Sometimes in the winter, porridge with extra hot milk.

SOL told me when he came to collect DGD2 that this am she asked if she could have Jaffa Cakes for breakfast. He said 'No, Jaffa Cakes are not a 'breakfast' thing, You can have A Weetabix, or cornflakes or porridge'. Then she asked if she could have a Jaffa Cake after breakfast and he said 'OK as long as you eat ALL of your breakfast first'. 'Oh I will', said she, fetching a small plate. 'Can I have A cornflake, please'. hmm

I always have two slices of toast and marmalade - homemade bread with sunflower and pumpkin seeds and thick cut marmalade. So boring but I feel quite bereft without it blush

baubles Thu 14-Nov-13 21:17:55

Current favourite is Total full fat Greek yoghurt topped with walnuts and manuka honey. I have that before 7 am and it keeps me going to lunchtime which is usually about 2.30.

Maniac Fri 15-Nov-13 04:56:49

Porridge with fresh fruit and yoghurt sprinkled with sunflower seeds

Breakfast no.1 (as soon as I get up): coffee, flapjack, more coffee.

Breakfast no.2 (after I'm dressed): coffee, bread, butter, marmalade (or, at the moment, apricot jam), more coffee.

gally, that orange and elderflower marmalade sounds good. Where can i get some?

MiceElf Fri 15-Nov-13 07:00:36

These all sound delicious. But I've stopped having those sorts of breakfasts as I found I was hungry by mid morning with no chance of being able to anything for at least a couple of hours. So now I have a banana and a handful of almonds and brazil nuts, keeps me full all morning and the nuts are full of calcium too which I need for my bones.
