Just that really! How do I get it off? Xx

Lard. Scrub hard. Then fairy soap.

Other gats might work, but I know that does. DD2 new dress, pale yellow from granny, sat in tar at the park!!

fats not gats

My children used to get tar on their swimsuits at the beach. We used to get it off with fly spray, believe it or not! It works!

Eucalyptus oil used to do the trick.

That's the one I was trying to remember Nellie. Thank you for your suggestions. I'll try flyspray first, as it's less messy, and then the fats. wine

Even if it was washed afterwards?

Bellasnana Mon 19-May-14 20:02:44

None of my children came to any harm from it. Just spray it on a clean cloth and rub gently until it loosens the tar. Obviously you would want to wash it afterwards. Anyway, it worked for us. Even used it to get tar off their feet. Clearly I was a dreadful mother sad

WD40? I think I have heard of this as a possible tar remover.

Brighton beach in the forties and fifties was notorious for the lumps of tar stuck to the pebbles. Rubbing with fat was the solution, followed by a hot wash - in those days it was in the sink with a bar of soap and a scrubbing brush.
