It's all quite moving, isn't it, particularly seeing the returning veterans.

Fascinating to watch the heads of state arriving and all the protocol.

But I'm very confused .... why were Charles and Camilla in that group? confused

I have not been watching but what I have heard on't radio is very moving. The November remembrance day always gets me going.

"When you go home, tell them of us and say
For their tomorrow, we gave our today. "

There is now a very lovely War memorial in the centre of Crewe of all places.
The war memorial itself used to be in a rather nondescript square by M&S and some quite unattractive 1960's shops.

That was moved a few years ago to lovely gardens outside the old Victorian Town Hall, Market. A decent looking modern Library and court house. The gardens have been laid out and paved with tributes to the Armed services. That has become a really attractive place to hold such a ceremony now.

What might have happened without that Dday "big push" we can only speculate.

I always find these type of ceremony's poignant. I'm a mess on 11th November. All those young men ..gone.lives not lived. All those heartbroken mothers. All those siblings who lost a brother and partly lost their mother because of her grief. All those widows, heartbroken and those children who's lives were probably blighted by being fatherless. It's enough to make any of us weepsad

I didn't watch the ceremonies but local radio did feature a lot of stories told by the old soldiers, their wives, children and grandchildren. Some of the stories had me in tears. Such a waste.

Nellie It sounds such a peaceful and tranquil area for your War Memorial, our local place of Rememberance is quite near The Riverfront looking over The Mersey which was a gathering place yesterday for many old Service Men and Women.
I can't listen to tributes such as The Last Post or the Pipes as I also go fill up with tears for all those lost people.flowers
