Too much TV

As I have gotten older, I seem to be watching more TV. I am grateful that TV is there to be watched, I do sometimes though feel I could be doing something that would make me happier.

When I was younger I never watched TV, not even If I had nothing else to do, I do not really know what has changed and why, now I resort to watching TV when I am not busy, m I alone with this?

I shouldn't worry - I am sure lots of us watch more tv as we get older, though I wish I read my book instead sometimes!
I sometimes watch daytime tv when I am ironing, especially in the winter, but I also like to listen to the radio, and my tv does radio4 extra too, which has lots of old programmes on. Altho I like BBC tv, the adverts on other channels give me a chance to get up and walk around (to make a cuppa or go to the loo! A bit of exercise now and again!).

Sometimes I'd like the chance.... DH was cutting the field this afternoon so I settled down with a cuppa and tried to watch a soppy film about William and Kate on channel 5. I needed some ME time after looking after DD's dogs over Easter but would you believe it, the b****y mower ran out of petrol!

Am I the only one who's married to a man who expects you to jump to attention the minute you hear the back door open? angry

At night I often feel too tired to read my book and watch telly instead, but I agree Parcs I wish I didn't. My DH hardly watches any TV so I have free range to watch ever I want smile.

I do however do the crossword or Sudoku whilst half watching.

merlotgran, DH's can expect whatever they want - doesn't mean they have to get it.

DH has to have the telly on all the time and then proceeds to do something other than watch it. I like to plan my viewing and he is often surprised to come home and find it off!

Parcs you are not alone! I never used to watch much at all, now I enjoy tv whenever I like. we have Sky, so plenty of choice, and I find my eyes are not up to much reading at night anyway, so I do any reading by day.

TV can be a good thing late at night when you have had a nightmare and need a quick distraction, or if you feel you need some noise in the house.

But I really do need to think back at what exactly I did instead of watch the Box! I think basically I had a life and did not even think of the TV sad

However when we do try and leave the TV off, it does get a bit, well what shall we do now!

When hubby`s not around, I don`t watch much TV, I`m either reading or on here usually. I watch maybe one programme a night, usually none on a Wednesday night, and my 2 soaps at lunchtime. Things change if there`s anything really special on, but that doesn`t happen very often.

Our TV is on most of the time. We use it as a TV and a radio. I tend to only half watch it. Usually I'm doing something else as well. It's company when I'm on my own.

when watching tv I am usually doing something else as well. Xword, Audi no, sewing, ironing. In the mornings I prefer local radio.

On the other hand, first thing DH does is switch on tv. Checks the sports and news, and it would stay on until bedtime.

He is a tv fanatic with a passion for quizzes and current affairs.

I find that I watch very little television and what I do watch is something I have recorded and watch it at a time convenient to me. I think I spend more time on the computer keeping in touch with family and friends and late at night I like to read.
