Help, please! Advice on Christmas present/s for 2 year old DGS

I think the best present for that age would be a really big cardboard box.

We've bought our 2 year old DGS a wooden garage complete with 2 wooden cars and a lift. He likes things he can hold so he will probably enjoy playing with the cars.

My lot had the Toddle bike thing and it was a great hit

Also, John Lewis do a lovely Brio type push along wooden train set which can be added to. That was also much played with. Little ones like push along trains because they are more in control of play with them.

Happyland sets are good sturdy toys and suitable for 18 months upward. We bought GS the funfair and the rocket ship and he got a lot of fun out of them for ages. His other gran also got him a lovely wooden Noah's Ark which he loved, and has now been put away as it has achieved heirloom status! When he is old enough for small parts Playmobil sets are amazing. GS is eight and he still plays with his castle, his police station and passenger plane (but only when he thinks no-one is looking! )!

I bought my grandson the Thomas the Tank 'starter kit' to see if he liked it; he did so the next few birthdays and Christmas's were taken up with buying the table, track and trains. Whereas his brother had no interest in it at all . I think that toddlers can be overwhelmed by too many presents at Christmas time.

Vouchers are no good for a toddler. They need to have something they can handle and if everyone else has a parcel, can you imagine their disappointment when handed an envelope? My GSs loved the Thomas the Tank Engine series with rails to match. This can be expanded every birthday and Christmas. Dads rather like them too.

Vouchers for trips to Zoos etc?
Adopt a donkey/polar bear etc etc.

Toys R Us voucher?

Dressing up stuff!

Apron(s), some with sleeves, for messy play and 'helping' in the kitchen.

I also bought a very cheap scooter online - you can put on 2, 3, or 4 wheels so that it can progress with their skill.

and is only £25.

Any Fisher Price items - the camper van, aeroplane etc. Also wooden red bus with little wooden people in it - just bought that for one of mine.
