I'm thinking of trying to do it again.

Evening all,

After a rejection from the Oldie for my piece on the perils of modern underwear, I'm thinking of submitting a few odds & ends of my ramblings to other publications.

The ones I have thought of are:

Engaging with the customer

Phillpots Syndrome

And possibly, with the dreaded C on the horizon, Cursing the Gammon

I have left out the cat ones, as they might be a bit niche.

Any thoughts?

Did you ever try Peoples Friend. Womans Weekly might like the cats ones.

Go for it. Inundate them!

phoenix you always make me laugh. I love your posts. As * jings* said Go for it

Other than your underware and cats
I have yet to have pleasure of reading the above list.
I did very much have a laugh out loud moment when you described the somewhat strange items on sale in a ( I think) supplement brochure.
And on that alone I would say go for it and include the above

Go for it phoenix, you know we all love your writing.

You've got nothing to loose I enjoy your posts good luck

I didn't read your comments on modern underwear. Did it include the big sigh of relief when we allow ourselves to ease into flesh coloured Bridget Jones knickers from Primark? Maybe the Oldie rejected it for being too honest.

The cat article you wrote here, was so funny and you should submit it. The IBS thing, emm...not sure smile.

Try sending the cat ones to a magazine for cat lovers. I think Writing Magazine recommends some publications who are often on the look out for niche stuff.

My favourite is Cursing the Gammon grin

IBS, Pollengran??? I did write about my (ahem) problems with bowel movements, but it was not IBS!

Not everything I post on here could possibly be considered for sharing with the wider world, but I have had the odd moment!

The posts mentioned can probably be found somewhere in the metaphorical GN "cupboard under the stairs" smile

PS Pollengran the underwear thing involved 2 separate episodes, one which involved putting a thong on sideways confused, and the other resulted in my having to leave my knickers on the train and go commando all day! blush

Perhaps the underwear ones are too risqué for The Oldie (I confess I've never read it) although both reduced me to tears! I love Cursing The Gammon, they must like that one surely.

Inundate all of them. You have a talent too good to waste!

phoenix Fri 09-Sep-16 20:58:01

You are all very kind!

Pollengran Fri 09-Sep-16 21:04:48

I took the trouble to google Phillpots Syndrome and that is all I could find, so I apologise grin.

Putting a thong on sideways.. I did do that once, when I was ultra thin, but I couldn't manage it now. As for going commando.. I need to look for that cupboard under the stairs!

Anyway, You are very talented and the horrible thing about that is getting over rejections when you KNOW you are good. Keep submitting Phoenix.

Cursing the Gammon is SO funny! Perhaps something like Woman's Weekly would like it as an antidote in the run up to Christmas? They need to be approached well in advance because their publication schedule is more in line with a monthly rather then weekly magazine.

Always hard to get published Phoenix.....in the meantime, put something funny on the Happy Hour thread, I had been wondering where you were! smile
