Feeling very sad after coming off soops thread.

However I tried the sl1 k2tog psso and that works out fine. My hand copes far better with that. Am sure when all the fractures have settle down long term k3 tog will be fine. But until then ....... I will post pictures when finished as I need some black wool to do the middles of the poppies. Thanks to every one

Have you tried slip 1, k2tog, pass the slipped stitch over? That still cuts 3 stitches down to 1, but isn't so hard to do. You could also adopt NfkDumpling's suggestion of knitting the 2 tog through the backs of the loops if that was easier. Hope that makes sense!

Just to say that I found an excellent way to join in a new ball of wool by looking on youtube. I am always so delighted every time I use the new method and, if I may say, so proud of myself for understanding the video! grin

There's a fee. Please will you post a pic of the finished article?

Lovely. Will give that a go, thank you ladies.

That's it mcem! Much easier to explain with a photo!

I've found the tutorials you can access via our friend Google very helpful, I'm another relatively recent returnee to knitting. I couldn't knit for years due to inflammation in my hands and wrists, excellent disease modifiers for RA have made it possible again. I have though found that sadly, I'd forgotten lots of things. In my teens and twenties, I knitted cable and fair isle, I can scarcely believe it now.
If I'm stuck with a pattern, I google "how to knit 3 together" ( for example) and some clever knitting site will pop up with someone demonstrating exactly how to do this.
Isn't the internet fabulous (even if we're all too old to enjoy Facebook or the internet)

Slip needle through back of 1st 2nd then
3rd stitch and knit all 3 together. Much easier than trying to go through front of stitches. Hope this helps.

I haven't done it very often but I find it helps if you do keep the tension loose as Swanny suggested, but it if it still too tight then push the needle through the first stitch to loosen it a bit, take it out, then through the first two, wriggle it around slightly to loosen them, take it out then through all three and K3tog.

Try it knitting the 3 stitches through the back of the loops - 1st, 2nd and 3rd stitches rather than counting off 3 stitches and knitting together 3,2,1. Then the needle isn't twisting back on itself. Does that make sense? It's really difficult to explain!

Try keeping the tension a bit loose?

I have started on the long road (along with many others in our village) knitting red poppies for 2018. I only knit for charity things and am not a great knitter but quantity I can do. I am finding one row particularly difficult and that is the k3tog row. Admittedly I still have residual problems from my hand and wrist fractures but I cannot understand why I find this so hard. Does anyone have any tips please?
