In the 1950's we were taught 'The Thrushes Song' by ...? at our primary school in Midlothian. I now sit and listen to the Thrush singing from the tree tops here in beautiful Argyll and think of that poem. The words I remember are;
Did he do it. Did he do it.
Come and see. Come and see.
Cherry sweet. Cherry sweet.
Knee deep. Knee deep.
To me to me to me.
It may not be in the right order and there could be some of it missing.
I have looked this up online but can't find any reference to it. It could have been written by Walter de la Mare but I'm not sure. I know we were taught Silver by Walter de la Mare. When I look at the moon and think of my dear husband I remember that lovely poem.
