When I read the book I had to hide it away after as it was too traumatic for me. Many many years later i have never opened it again.
I am able to read 99.9 per cent of things but somehow this just touched me.

I know gmelon it gets you like that, that is why I love the film.

The couple were so lucky, they had many happy healthy years together. He was always in a job h that he loved and she loved her life as a Housewife, then as a bonus they had their son.

I do not know what makes you sad about the film but I get it.

They had a lovely no stress life together, I liked watching it because it was nice to see that a life like that is Possible smile

Oh gmelon I agree the book is sad but happy too and I reread it regularily!

Wasn't this based on the lives of Raymond Briggs' parents?

It is lovely - and so poignant.

DanniRae Fri 25-Aug-17 14:29:00

The film is called "Ethel and Ernest"

Parsleywin Fri 25-Aug-17 14:49:31
