Yes, it happens all too often, andsometimes I remember (after a bit of a think, )and sometimes have no clue at all.

Aha! Just remembered, I was supposed to be emptying the bins in the office and the bathroom.

roses doesn't really have to be amusing, don't know why I said that really.......

Once, while still using a potty my DS tore off some toilet paper, looked at confused, frowned - then blew his nose! He knew he was supposed to do something with it but couldn't remember what. Too much information? Sorry.

I am a wanderer. Towels need to go away in bathroom, pick up empty toilet rolls and take out to recycling bin, pick up dog poos, back to bathroom to wash hands and am surprised to see towels put away - that is a short wander, some can go on for half a hour.

Earlier this afternoon I went upstairs to retrieve my watch which I had left in the bathroom. Replenished the bathroom stash of loo rolls, scooped some poop from the litter tray, put away some washing, gazed into wardrobe trying to decide what to wear for tomorrow's hospital appointment but decided to wait and see what the weather was like. Went back downstairs, remembering to take the poo bag, but without the watch that I went up for. Grr!

Husband: Why have you left the drawer open? (but could be anything e.g. wardrobe door).

Me: I got sidetracked when I was looking for ...um. Dunno.

Then I usually add: Why do you ask so many questions?

....but I can remember all the words to the hits of the 70s!!!!!

I got into the car, picked up a friend because we were going shopping in town.
Twenty minutes later I realised we were outside the university where we both worked, nowhere near town.

This was years ago so I can't put it down to old age forgetfulness!

Oooh, thank you - I was getting worried with all this dementia talk that's in fashion just now. I'm not demented.... I'm normal! (Either that or the government really do have something to worry about)

Four-year-old DGD was in the car last week with her mum. Suddenly, she started laughing. "Oh, Mummy - I was going to put my finger up my nose but I forgot and put it in my ear instead!"

And like Tizliz I too am a wanderer. It's a bit like Double or Drop (wish they'd bring that back) as I wander around the house for ages with armfuls of stuff picking up and putting away as I go - generally with a duster stuck in my back jeans pocket so I can do a bit of dusting on the way. It does help with what am I up/down/in here for as I'm always there for something else.

(I have to confess to having driven my DiL who's recovering from an op and can't drive yet, to her dentist - as that's what we were taking about - instead of the nursery to collect DGS. She did say she was getting worried about me and was I doing too much)

I often go to the fridge and forget what it is I need to get out.

It never happens at gin o'clock though.

I went through a distracted stage a few months ago. The margarine that I couldn't find shortly after i had used it turned up in a drawer, a jug of milk in a cupboard, and DH found the laundry liquid in the fridge!

Not about going somewhere and wondering why you're there, but I am reminded of a phone call from my DS about half an hour ago. Conversation went something like this:

DS: Mum, when I rang you yesterday, what were we talking about?
Me: Erm... can't remember, sorry.
DS: (Laughing) Neither can I - I've been racking my brains and can't remember at all.
Me: I don't even remember you ringing me. Oh God, this is bad!
DS: Oh, erm... well I had a missed call from you, so I rang you back. I know I tried a couple of times to get you.
Me: A missed call? I don't remember ringing you! I'm sure I didn't mean to, haha!
DS: Haha, well I know I tried to ring you back more than once...
Me: And did you get through to me in the end?
DS: (more laughter) I'm actually beginning to think I didn't.
Me: So we may or may not have talked yesterday and if we did, neither of us can remember what it was about. Maybe we should stick to texting in future so we have a record

DS is in his mid 40's so it's not just the more mature amongst us

Sorting out the washing up and tidying the kitchen, I needed the dishcloth. I had it in my hand a minute ago to wipe the worktops so where was it . Nowhere in sight so it must be in the sink. Braving the rather hot water I plunged my hand in and had a rummage under the bubbles. No clobth. Plunged in again, it must be there. Couldn't find it. It had to be there so gradually emptied the sink of all the cutlery and crockery, still no dishcloth. I was so convinced it had to be there I emptied all the water out. Nothing there. Even more it must have gone in the rubbish bin. Emptied bin....no cloth. Looked in fridge ..no cloth. Went round the flat looking everywhere. Gave up and got out a new cloth. Started to stack the crockery in the dishwasher and .......?

A while back I spent some time rushing up and down the stairs, flying in and out of rooms and getting increasingly exasperated because I couldn't find my glasses. The problem was eventually solved when I realised I had them on.

I am an autopiloter. When I was working, the firm moved offices to a smaller building about half a mile away from the old one. For about a week, I would turn into the business park where we had worked, only to have to turn around and drive out again. I even parked the car one day and walked into the building!! I also did this when we moved house. I parked in our old driveway before I realised that I shouldn't be there! These days I frequently wander round the house like a lost soul, trying to remember what I'm supposed to be looking for. DH says I ought to have a set of chains to rattle!

Morning folks,I frequently lose my glasses, turn the house upside down, check numerous handbags, work bag, search the car and then realize they are hanging round my neck on a chain.

..yesterday had a 'panic' moment re my eyesight...OMG cant see my garden properly through the window.....everythings blurry....then realised had not removed my reading glasses....?

I often forget on the way upstairs what I'm going for. I usually find something I can do, which may turn out to have been my objective in the first place. My Mum could never find her glasses but we (3 daughters) always knew where they would be: on the end of the bath where she used to read The Woman's Journal.
