Has anyone spotted any velvet tops in jewel colours for sale? We have a few things on that are crying out for just such a top. I'd like something very plain - long sleeve, scoop neck, preferably plum or purple to wear with black trousers. Thank you!

Kitty I bought a very nice velour jacket last year from Cotton traders online. I have just had a look and they do a wine coloured velour top with long sleeves but not a scoop neck, it’s worth you checking out.

There’s a very nice one in Joules in navy or grey.
I think it is actually meant as “loungewear” but loooks smart enough for “out”.
Alternatively look at Sahara - but at a price! They have a lovely red one which I am doing my best to,ignore.

Have you tried M & Co. Debenhams, they have velvet tops. Worth a look I would say - good luck!

try www.joebrowns.co.uk they have lots of lovely velvet things also White Stuff. Velvet is very 'in' this year so you should be spoilt for choice - some of its a bit shiny and static though!

Marks and Spencer, Boden and Toast all have lovely velvet tops.

I bought a lovely one from QVC just last week in a beautiful rich purple shade. The brand is Quacker Factory. My kindle camera isn't very good, but here's a photo. It's a much deeper, richer purple than the photo shows, but it gives you some idea.

Saw some lovely jewel coloured ones in White Stuff yesterday - £42, but they have 15% off at the moment smile

Bravissimo have their new Winter catalogue out which had several velvet items in it. I've ordered the fitted velvet dress in a steel blue shade. Gorgeous.
M&S has plenty to offer especially in the larger stores.
Google ' velvet tops', that should bring up lots of items or go on eBay.

I didn't see any in our M&S yesterday - but I walked in and it was a sea of clothes, all crammed in, a most unappealing layout.
A store stuffed full of clothes with hardly any customers.
sad

I will look at White Stuff, although I sometimes wonder if their quality is worth the price as I've had a couple of items which have gone into holes.

Try Roman Originals. I bought a lovely blue velvet tunic with elbow length sleeves earlier this year. I don’t know whether it is still available.

Next and Bon Marche have them too.

David1968 Wed 07-Nov-18 10:55:09

Oh, how I wish I could wear velvet/velour, but nowadays I think it just makes me look like a (comfy) armchair!

Jane43 Wed 07-Nov-18 10:56:02

T K Max is always worth looking in.

Roman Originals have some .Have bought quite a few items from them. Think most good clothes shops will stock these,

inishowen Wed 07-Nov-18 11:58:40

I would try Bon Marche.

Try Boden.

Gilly1952 Wed 07-Nov-18 12:26:14

Try searching on the internet. I’ve seen several nice ones, but usuallly in black. I am now looking for a long dress for a Black Tie Dinner - most seem to be black! I wore a lot of black when young, but now it seems to drain me and I prefer some colour. I have a two lovely knee length dresses in red and green which I could wear, but I fancied a long one. I might try the charity shops! Good luck with your search!

Where do you live? On the moon? velvet tops are everywhere on the high street and on line, various prices too.

Speldnan Wed 07-Nov-18 14:25:32

Not sure about tops but I’ve just bought some lovely velvet jeans in M and S. they’re advertised as cord but they really aren’t and they’re so comfortable.

Try Kettlewell Colours . Their clothes are organised into seasons . Winter colouring is all about jewel colours . Their new stock is all velvet .

Have a look at Etsy. Lovely colours.

Treebee Wed 07-Nov-18 15:13:16

Yes, Boden has a lovely long sleeved velvet top. I second Kettlewell too.
