Last night I received a phone call from the head coach at my GC’s ski club. She asked me if I would take over as secretary. I was surprised but not surprised! I had recently raised money for them and I think they liked the way I got things done.
I am not sure what to do. The events I organised took a considerable amount of time and caused a fair bit of stress. I know I put a lot into things and most of that stress comes from myself. Perhaps if I was doing it on a more regular basis it mightn’t be so bad.
I should add that the ski club is for children with additional needs, mostly autism (my GCs are high functioning autists).
I am also concerned about being on a committee as I think that might be stressful dealing with other personalities.
I am retired and look after my GCs on a daily basis. I do have lots of free time and I want to ‘give back’ to the club as it has done so much for my GCs.
The club is small but has been very successful, 4 Olympic medallists! I know the secretary’s post takes care of all paperwork, money, meetings etc.
I’m not sure. Can anyone advise me please.
