We were talking about Mother's Day and thinking about the things we really wish we'd inherited from them. For me, it would have to be my mum's singing voice - I can't hold a note, yet she can make a song out of the week's shopping list and sound like she should be on stage. What do you wish you'd inherited from your mum?

Her ability and patience to knit fair isle jumpers.

Mum’s extrovert personality, she could light up a room.

I think I have inherited my mum's nimble fingers for sewing though I can't knit at her speed - she was so fast you couldn't see her fingers move.

Her ability to make friends easily. In fact her ability to easily recognize people, which is something that I struggle with!

Her fantastic needlework skills - embroidery, tapestry, counted thread work, dressmaking. She was so gifted.

One more thing was her skill at small talk, she could chat to anyone. I’m ok once I get to know people, Mum could just chat to anyone ( though I would never have described her as extrovert, just good at chatting).

I have inherited my mothers figure despite leading very different lives and having a very different diet, I have morphed into her, Buddah belly etc. sad. She was a lovely lady though x

I loved my mother dearly, but there's nothing I wish I'd inherited from her. I wish I'd inherited my father's patience in putting up with her though! grin

Her looks- at 90 she is still an absolute beauty. My dad was a very handsome man, too. Unfortunately I take after him, and what is handsome in a man isn’t so attractive in a woman. My three daughters are absolutely lovely too. When I’m with them and my mother I am definitely the ugly duckling. Ahh well, at least I didn’t inherit her cooking “skills”......

Her thick skin.

My mother was a Post Mistress and run a small grocery business. She was so good at mental arithmetic, if a delivery man was toting up a bill, mam could arrive at the correct sum before him - and that was reading it upside down so to speak.
She had lovely long fingers and played the piano. She didn't knit but could crochet beautifully. Sadly I have inherited none of these traits though I wish I had. It is 34 years since she died and I miss her so much.

Nothing whatsoever. I'm still trying to irradicate the bits I did inherit.

Her kindness and her optimism. She thought good of everyone.

I'd like to be as lovely as she was.

M0nica Tue 26-Mar-19 15:47:45

Her social skills and ability to attract people to her.

Greyduster Tue 26-Mar-19 15:54:28

Absolutely nothing.

crazyH Tue 26-Mar-19 16:05:47

My mother's height

nanaK54 Tue 26-Mar-19 16:09:43

Her knitting skills - I can knit but nothing like as well as mum who mastered some really complicated patterns
Maybe her longevity she died aged 93, only a 'maybe' there because her last year wasn't much fun at all, she had definitely 'had enough' when she passed away
