I look after my 1 year old GD 3 days a week in my own home but will be doing this for two days in Leeds next month staying in a hotel.

Any tips for toilets with baby change that also accommodate big pushchair? Shops with automatic doors, child friendly cafes, playgrounds, soft play etc etc. Would love tips from local GN’s to make our stay as stress free as possible.

My DD2 spends a lot of time in Leeds with her boys, Grannyflower. She’s away at the moment, but if you still need advice when she’s back next week, I’ll get some tips from her.

One place I can definitely recommend is Leeds Museum (not open Mondays). It’s got good facilities and a child-friendly cafe with very easy access. And an awesome exhibition of wild animals on the ground floor!

Thank you so much for the tip. Will get that on our list and any more tips would be most welcome. ?

Do you mean hotel recommendation or area recommendation? Is the hotel already sorted? Anyway, area wise - not sure about the hotels, chapel allerton is very child friendly for cafes, Meanwood has brilliant park etc near very accessible Waitrose with loo not baby changing though, golden acre park in Adel is fantastic with council run cafe, dog and child friendly, baby changing loos etc... there is s new premier inn in Headingley which has all mod cons? and Headingley is a great area, centrally placed for all public transport and with a community owned state of art centre that is totally child friendly, I think it even has drop in child care. To be in incredibly exciting city with just beautiful rural Yorkshire to the north is lovely. You can breathe have fun.

There are actually 6 dinosaurs on the Jurassic Trail around Leeds centre at the moment - my GDS all loved hunting them down! Unfortunately they are only there until 1 September.

As someone else mentioned Tropical world in the canal gardens opposite the main Roundhay Park entrance is great also, kirkstall abbey for kids to climb and run around, across kirkstall road is the Abbey house museum, with an old Victorian street, plus all the old shops and kids can dress up, the rest of the museum is a children’s museum film of toys to play with, also cafe downstairs. There are loads of other places as well, Harewood house is a great day out, Meanwood valley farm, and meanwood trail, we are also a very short drive from the countryside too.

Thank you all for your responses. Hotel sorted in central Leeds for 2/3 Sept. Will check out city centre and look forward to discovering the area.
