What shall I wear?

A very good friend is getting married in a couple of weeks
(4th time- brave lady!!) & is having her 'Hen' week after next.
It is going to be quite a riotous night & I have no clue what to wear. I don't want to buy anything new (watching money after Xmas) but there will be dancing & eating & drinking. I don't really want to wear trousers as I get very hot but a skirt or dress will mean high heels which will be agony by about 11pm.
I have a nice outfit for the actual wedding ( Oh I hope it fits after Xmas excesses!!)
Anybody got any bright ideas??

I think a dress with flattish boots, full or ankle, looks good .

I’m always inclined to wear heels with a skirt or dress but these days you don’t have to.
Think Carla Bruni.
Ballet flats or smart ankle boots work especially with knee-length or shorter dresses & thick tights.

A long floaty/sparkly top with leggings is fashionable and looks good with flat court shoes.
Or a shorter length dress, just above the knee, with coloured tights and flat shoes.
I can't cope with heels any more and have a nice pair of gold flat leather shoes. I wore the above combinations on a recent cruise and felt both appropriately dressed and comfortable.
Even young people who start the evening in heels end up dancing barefoot anyway!

I've never worn "heels". This has never been a problem anywhere or anywhen.

Just mentioning that because I thought the whole purpose of feminism was to claim more choice. If you don't want to wear heels because of the discomfort, then don't. Nobody will mind.

I have worn what I considered to be a flattering dress with flat shoes which resemble plimsolls. With ankle socks. If others don't like - hard cheese.

Sorry posted on the wrong thread. Blonde moment?

How about a floaty maxi dress ? Then you can wear any pretty flats you like.
Whatever you decide, enjoy the occasion!

Heels not needed. Flats or ankle boots are very fashionable.

High heels are naff anyway!
