I've put on a whole load of weight with lockdown & now the temperatures are dropping I need a few new things to wear but I've no idea what colours are trendy. Any ideas?

I don’t know what is trendy MaryTheBooker but I shall be ferreting about in my wardrobe for autumnal colours.

I never know what's fashionable but I do fancy some new knitwear in autumn colours and also a deep red long cardigan.
Apparently pale beige and lime green are 'in', along with black but that doesn't appeal to me.

I'm so fed up with fifty shades of blue which is what I seem to have worn all year so far.

I keep buying blue clothing as well Callistemon I really must look at something different, I like reds and golds, I need to look at some new sites instead of the old favourites.

Talking of blue, the air here just turned that colour as Mr SP dropped a screw behind the washing machine.

Another one who lives in blue. Every shade of blue. Even when I go out to deliberately find "something different", I come home with more blue.

Who knows or cares? Just wear colours you like and that suit you! If they are both, then double win!

Sorry, that wasn't very clear. Say, for example puce is this seasons "in" colour, but it makes you look like the living dead, avoid it, and at risk of wearing a colour that isn't fasionable , but suits your skin tone, then go for that.

Surely we can all turn our backs on "fashion" and know what suits us and create our own look, and yet be stylish?

Well pale beige and lime green are two colours I cannot wear make me look bilious so I ll be out of fashion I m afraid

I'll be choosing colours I like, although most of my clothes will be what's already hanging in my wardrobe.

My wardrobe a rainbow of glorious colour spring, summer, autumn and winter. Colours I never wear Black, Brown or Fawn. Winter staples are always grey and navy blue twined with my rainbow colours. Shoes and handbags match and tone with the whatever bright colour I wear or neutral grey or navy. As I am 83 it is important to be warm in autumn and winter so mostly wear cashmere or alpaca sweater/twinset. Never coats always capes colours of the rainbow and a alpaca fur hat – Duchess of Cornwall has good taste and wears the same grey alpaca. And always, always, pearl earrings. Someone approached me last year and asked whether she could have my pink cape when I was tired of it. As it is almost twenty years old it will not be any time soon. Oh, such fun!!

Urmstongran Sat 05-Sep-20 20:31:27

Is grey still the new black?
Who cares.

Callistemon Sat 05-Sep-20 20:34:29

No, it's rust Urmstongran!

Urmstongran Sat 05-Sep-20 20:40:13

? Calli! I need a whole new wardrobe it seems. Maybe.
Or not.

Callistemon Sat 05-Sep-20 20:42:45

But not lime green!

Beige is the new black.

Chewbacca Sat 05-Sep-20 20:44:22

Beige is the new black.

Oh really? sad Beige is such a draining colour on me, especially now that I've stopped dying my hair.

Callistemon Sat 05-Sep-20 20:46:25

Looks like I'm stuck with 50 shades of blue.

Urmstongran Sat 05-Sep-20 20:48:23

I see a lot of old beige. Or is it taupe? Stone?

Callistemon Sat 05-Sep-20 20:54:31

Taupe is fine!

Chewbacca Sat 05-Sep-20 21:00:53

Is taupe a beige by any other name?

janeainsworth Sat 05-Sep-20 21:01:25

Oh for goodness sake. Who cares what’s in fashion, this year of all years.
Can’t you think of anything more interesting to test us on, Marythebookeeper?

Chewbacca Sat 05-Sep-20 21:02:49

grin

Callistemon Sat 05-Sep-20 21:07:49

Chewbacca

Is taupe a beige by any other name?

Certainly not!

It's a whiter shade of pale darker shade of beige

phoenix Sat 05-Sep-20 21:21:22

Akshully, some shades of biege/taupe/stone/mushroom work well for me, so there!

If course, I add "accent" colours black to liven it up a bit!

JuneRose Sat 05-Sep-20 22:33:46

Eeuw lime green. That's a no no for me! Go for colours that suit you in reasonably fashionable styles or more to the point reasonably flattering styles.
