Step counter

Can anyone suggest a simple, watch type step counter please?

If we are having a 2nd lockdown I ought to be fitter or at least attempt to be fitter.

I know my phone would do that but it isn't attached to me.

The counter on my phone works in my pocket.

I have a Garmin. Lots of people have Fitbits. I don’t know the difference but mine gives lots of useful (possibly?) data including hours of sleep and whether light or deep, among other things. The only thing it hasn’t yet displayed is a total of 10k steps in any one day. My fault, not its. However I plan to achieve that recommended goal in days to come.
By the way, it is waterproof so you can wear it in the bath, or swimming.

I've got a plain step counter which clips on to my waistband. I looked into fitbits but was confused by the huge number of them and the wide range of costs. Also some seemed very complicated.
I don't want to know about sleep etc as I know it would just make me neurotic!

I bought a very simple FitBit from JL after Christmas. I think it was £50 but I had a gift voucher so I paid very little.
I found it useful, but depressing to see how little I walked under lockdown, despite a daily walk with Hattie, compared to the everyday popping around , shopping, short walks to see friends etc of “unlocked down” life.

Comparing notes with my 10 year old GS one day I was proudly telling him how I had done my 10,000 steps the previous day, he checked his and (admittedly just back from rugby practice) had already beaten me and it was only lunchtime.
And we wonder why we put on weight as we get older! hmm

TBH Kitty I would stick with your phone and have it with you as you go out and about, and make conscious efforts to do proper walks.

Having a step counter attached as you potter around the house is neither use nor ornament in the fitness stakes, in my humble opinion!

DH and me both use our phones. I have also bought a treadmill with money I've saved from not spending on going out etc in lockdown.

Well, at least you managed the 10,000 goal maw. Actually I think there could be something wrong with mine (or me?) ?

My daughter and her family go for long walks and she often has way more than that but she doesn’t have my knees. I will aim to achieve that 10k before Christmas though!

My friend was insulted at her husband giving her a fitbit. She attached it to her dog's collar and startled her husband at her amazing lever of activity.

Level not lever

Jaxjacky Sun 27-Sep-20 12:20:21

Jane10 that made me chortle!

I tried that one but the dog's steps went so fast the counter couldn't cope!

I’ve got a simple Fitbit kitty and I love it!

I have quite literally just checked in after working out how to use my phone as a pedometer. Sometimes I think GN reads my mind! I think we all have the same concerns at the moment. I wore it all day yesterday and despite a couple of short but proper walks around the house, even though I was on my feet a lot it registered less than 2000 steps. SIL has gone for a walk a long the beach this morning. He has regularly been doing 5 kilometres or so.

Which one is your simple fitbit brook2704?

I have a Fitbit from John Lewis. Fortunately it had a 2 year warranty as my current one is my 4th replacement. The same fault developed after 6 months on each of the previous ones. However I would not want to be without it. I walk approximately 10 miles a day in the county side around my town about 25000 steps and would be gutted if I wasn’t able to manage this. It tracks my sleep, heart rate and oxygen levels. I totally love it.

Impressive, MissChateline !

I’ve got the Fitbit Alta kitty, I think there’s a newer model called the Inspire that’s similar

I have a cheap Omnicron step counter that’s designed to work carried in a pocket or on a cord. Works fine for me ?
