Bare feet or slippers ?

Hello all, and good wishes.

Wasn't sure if this should be under health, beauty etc!

I'm prone to really hard skin on my feet, deal with it with one of those electric hard skin removers and applications of Flexitol cream.

But my normal habit is to be barefoot indoors, and I'm wondering if feet in contact with hard floor might be exacerbating the problem?

Not a fan of slippers, but does anyone think that wearing them might help to reduce the recurrence of the hard skin?

Thanks in advance!

I am a bare foot person all year round. I do use the little acid peel bootees a couple of times a year, with brilliant results.

If it is very cold I put on my Ugg slippers, they last approx three - four years which offsets the cost.

I go bare feet a lot of the time especially in the summer. Only ever wear mule type flat slippers in the winter as I hate my feet being hot. Have a small amount of hard skin on my heels I just use a foot file and ordinary foot cream and after a few applications it’s fine again. Never found walking bare footed has made it worse

Not sure if any good, but in Home Bargain they have exfoliating foot type of socks/boots for around 89p for one pair.I was looking at them yesterday.

I wear my Scholl toe post sandals all year round. I use the electric hard skin remover and cream. My heels are not too bad but I do have callouses on the side of my foot. We have hard floors and one elderly dog has continence problems so no barefoot walking chez Sodapop.

I have dry skin and can have problems with hard skin on my feet. From my experience I don’t think going barefoot makes any difference but my feet can get cold so I wear yoga socks or these fabulously comfortable shoes (bought in the sale though!).

How about slipper socks with antislip rubber grips? That’s what I wear in the winter, summer barefoot. I don’t think hard skin is connected.

I wear Crocs flip flops all year round and yes I have had several broken toes.
I was left with sore feet with skin thickening, more on one foot, after chemotherapy.
I use Clarins or L'Occitane foot cream, works a treat.

I love walking around the house barefoot, but I do get hard skin. I go to a chiropodist every eight weeks and that takes care of it!

I don't have any hard skin so cannot help. However a word of warning that may help. Having seen so many FB's in feet (foreign bodies) during my career, I for one would be wary of going barefoot.

I wear crocs not slippers and have lovely feet, I occasionally soak them in the foot spa but that's it. I can't reach both feet to apply cream due to disability so just as well I don't need to. I have no hard skin at all so need to exfoliate.

I used to have hard skin that cracked and was discoloured. Looked awful.

Then went to the podiatrist and what a miracle!

I now use a foot cream with urea every day after showering and they are beautifully pink and soft.

I do wear slippers though.

My feet get very cold so I always wear warm slippers, except in a heatwave. I just rub my heels with a pumice stone in the bath to keep them smooth.

I hate going barefoot unless it's very warm weather. I feel the cold easily.I have sheepskin lined slippers, and I like to wear slipper socks .I have recently treated myself to some cashmere ones from TKMaxx as not a fan of the synthetics .And I find using either Flexitol or O'keefes foot cream after a bath or shower and before I go to bed with the cosy socks helps a great deal. And now see a podiatrist every 6 /8weeks.

bikergran. B&M have a shelf edge label on their Tea Tree and Peppermint foot pack which calls it a peel. It’s not. It is the moisturising pack which I found gave excellent but short lived results. i.e. my feet looked great but after one bath were dry again. I had thought I had found a great bargain (foot peels generally cost about 8X as much or more) but on reading the foot pack before use I realised that it wasn’t a peel.

Ok thanks will read the pack with bit more detail next time I go in (which may be tomorrow as I cannot keep out of the place ,I spend a fortune in Home Bargain) smile
