William and Kate’s rail trip

I disagree.That’s what the royal train is for, to whizz them around the country, visiting factories/ hospitals and the like.
In fact I admire them for doing this when they could actually hide away claiming Covid means they can’t do any visits.
They are doing what the Queen used to do when younger.
I’m really a republican at heart but think if we have a royal family then they should be around meeting and greeting the public and not sat around in palaces at our expense.
So good on them.

I say good on them too. I expect most of the people who see or meet them are really bolstered by their visit. Obviously some will not think using the royal train is cost effective. Isn’t it better than having one but never using it?

It must gall those who wish to see the royal family disappear that people still turn out to see them wherever they go. Surely this was work, what they get paid to do?

I believe the royal train is expensive so it is good to see it used, and it doesn't look that luxurious to me.

Britain: How can we pay tribute to poorly paid workers who've risked their lives to keep us going during a pandemic?

Ms Sturgen first minister was none too happy about WK Visit She said the Scottish government made sure Royal household were made aware of Scotland's restrictions but the Royals seemingly defied the warning.

Would have been good if it had happened 6 months ago, but why now??? Royal Family have been conspicuous by the absence. I wouldn't expect to see the Queen out and about, but the rest of them.... Except on Remembrance Sunday, I don't remember seeing them.

I agree with you Newquay. It's just a marketing exercise and I think it's wholly inappropriate.

Six months ago Covid was at its height and the whole country was in Lockdown. Hardly the time for royal visits.

I had to check they went to Berwick it's in Northumberland a Tier 3 area.
Just goes to prove the rest of us are in lockdown but they can prance about on their own little train.
They were probably a bit bored at home. I mean a small mansion is OK for a few weeks but then you just have to get out!!!

Yes not good 6 months ago, but now, pre-Christmas to say ‘thank you’ in T2 areas (where people can meet up anyway and drink in pubs etc) seems appropriate.

I was meaning T2 Scotland - where Nicola Sturgeon objected to their visit. Edinburgh is fine.

We don't have Tiers in Scotland, we have Levels. They went to Edinburgh, which is Level 3. No drinking in pubs.
NS didn't object.
