It's a balmy 11C out there but very dull, damp and barely light!

Oh, it's such an effort on miserable days but needs must hmm so if I can drag myself away from the breakfast table I'm going for sprightly trot around the mean streets smile

midgey Tue 22-Dec-20 08:43:07

It’s not raining! Alleluia!

tanith Tue 22-Dec-20 08:44:51

I walk every day regardless of the weather I’m going to pop to Tesco for a few bits but if it’s too busy I’ll give it a miss then walk afterward. I need to avoid one park I walk through it’s badly flooded and muddy. Maybe I should buy wellies?

Iam64 Tue 22-Dec-20 08:47:35

Yes, Im in the grey, wet north west. Any day recently that doesn't feel like a monsoon is a blessing. It's damp out there but currently, not raining.
I'm out every morning whatever the weather. Dogs need a walk and so do I.

Planting trees in local woodland today. I will be wading through the forest mud, clutching my spade and a bag of 25 native saplings. If I'm lucky some fallow deer might pass by to check me out.

I doubt it- I will be waiting for two more Amazon parcels. The first arrived in the middle of the night at 7.30 am!

fiorentina
Well done ?? we need trees.

Riverwalk, I have no choice. Unless it rains heavily for the entire day, two little brown, pleading eyes will soon be right in my face.

'Walkies time?' (looks at me, then at lead, then at me etc.) I ignore (not dressed yet) and get up to make more tea.

'Walkies now?' (she sits by the front dog, wagging that tail furiously). I go to get dressed.

'Walkies, walkies, walkies!' (a mad jumping furball is right in my way as I come down the stairs).

And - so it goes on - far easier to just put that coat on and go out!

Thank you Petra.
I'm one of 3 "ladies of a certain age" affectionately known as The Dinosaurs. We meet on Tuesdays to work in the forest and sometimes link up with a larger group to do jobs like tree planting. We have about 2500 to plant over the next few months.
We also drink a lot of tea and eat a fair bit of cake too.
I love it

Fiorentina51, what a delightful way to spend a day, companionship, coffee and cake! I try to get out every day with the dog, she is elderly but it gives us both a change of scenery, and we often manage a nice safely distanced conversation with someone.

feed fat pony, sort ducks into their enclosure (new DEFRA rules) - collect turkey and other food - collect prescription - dog walk - then off to scrump decorations for the barn where we will freeze on Christmas Day so as not to get to close to our bubbled grandchildren. So off to get the secateurs!

Lucky enough to have had a bit of watery sunshine today. I did a bit of my riverside walk. Can't stride out at the moment as it's a bit slippery underfoot. A little is better than nothing methinks. Saw my regular heron so that was a bonus.

Granny23 Tue 22-Dec-20 15:17:17

I,ve been out in the garden scrubbing the patio, sawing a few logs, putting covers on the benches and preparing the chiminea. DD2 (who must be obeyed) has decided that we should do present exchange outdoors on Christmas Morning. Brr.

Callistemon Tue 22-Dec-20 15:21:46

Not today
Rain, rain, rain
And yesterday

???

Loislovesstewie Tue 22-Dec-20 15:24:47

I take our old dog out for a walk no matter what the weather. It has to be truly appalling for us both to stay in.

Soozikinzi Tue 22-Dec-20 15:34:44

Quite clear here in Wigan! Had a lovely walk with the dog but I do walk her whatever the weather.

WOODMOUSE49 Tue 22-Dec-20 15:35:17

Rain this morning, so miserable walk with dog through the wood. Streams very high. Mya usually has a paddle and jumps over them but hasn't for weeks.

2nd walk is about to happen because what's that glow I see above me. Yes, sun is out. I also need to measure for new raised beds.

Wellies have been by the door since September.

Sunny morning in South Leics. so played tennis. Spent the afternoon painting a room, the window was open, does that count ?

EllanVannin Tue 22-Dec-20 15:41:16

Only my jaw has had an exercise today talking to a Gnetter who lives close by as we exchanged cards over the fence grin
It's been quite a nice day today too but I can sense the colder air creeping in.

MissChateline Tue 22-Dec-20 15:47:06

Lovely day here in West Yorkshire. As always I’ve done my 10 miles. I have a lovely 3 mile walk through the woods with a stream and waterfalls before breakfast. Then a potter down to town for supplies. A spot of lunch then 7 miles up onto the moors. Sun was shining and the views fabulous. I try to do this every day unless it’s totally pouring with rain. I haven’t got a dog but would love a furry friendly walking companion.

ginny Tue 22-Dec-20 15:50:02

We’ve been for a walk, about 30 minutes. Fairly warm and little wind so quiet pleasant.

nadateturbe Tue 22-Dec-20 15:52:03

Yes just been. I keep my woolly hat and gloves warm on the radiator beside the door. We walk as many days as possible. Just half hour "round the block ". And once a week a longer NT or coastal walk. Thanks for reminder Granarchist to collect meds.

nadateturbe Tue 22-Dec-20 15:56:36

I'm very impressed by some of the posters. My health prevents me doing more but I doubt whether I would ever have done ten miles each day.

kircubbin2000 Tue 22-Dec-20 16:04:36

Lovely day here. The walk took longer because I met a nice lady from church and we had a chat. Then I spotted someone I follow on Instagram and introduced myself so 45 minutes done.

TerriBull Tue 22-Dec-20 16:20:13

Yes went for an hour long walk in Bushy Park midday and have very muddy shoes to prove it!
