Self-isolation was a nice thing for me from the very beginning and I had lots of things to do around the house but now it seems like there is nothing to do for me as all the cleanings, re-organazings and other things are done.
What are you doing while isolating?

tanith Wed 25-Mar-20 07:31:13

Reading, gardening, phone someone each day, watching an episode of spooks, dip in and out of my crossword book, a couple of stretching and hand weight sessions, long walk each day. I have a bit of a routine of all these things each day it’s working well for me.

TerriBull Wed 25-Mar-20 08:23:41

Same - long walk, main focal point of the day and build other things around that. Sorting out cupboards with a view to getting rid of stuff. I do a meal plan for the day and cook and prepare the evening meal, ironing, some stretching exercises in the form of on line yoga, cursory look at the news on line, don't spend too long on it cos it's depressing, GN of course, reading, code word occasionally, about an hour doing French, my husband does Spanish he reckons at this rate we will be fluent grin I won't be, just better than I was when I was doing it at school! Catching up with tv series in the evening, have recently embraced more Netflix, BBC Iplayer. Avoiding food shops but cursory top ups, in and out as quickly as possible.

Duolingo - for language practice.
Elevate - for fairly challenging brain training.
Obvious household stuff. Spring cleaning is not a significant part of my routine but tackling one room at a time to clean and declutter.
Daily walk.
TV - Spooks for me too from series 1 ep 1.
The books I haven't got round to reading.
Thanking my lucky stars that all I have to deal with is staying at home.

There are far worse things than boredom - stay safe!

Humbertbear Wed 25-Mar-20 08:59:37

Reading, knitting, sketching, walking, cooking, online meetings with friends and family, reorganising family photos in new album. Tidying drawers and cupboards, jigsaws. Sewing projects

Heard a Dr. on TV say to get through the sheer boredom of self isolation we should try to finish things that we have started and thus try to have more calm in our lives. So I looked through the house to find some the things i've started but hadn't finished. So I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of Chardonnay, a bodle of Jock Danielas, a butle of wum, tha mainder of Valiumun srciptuns, an a box a chocletz. Yu haf no idr how fablus I feel rite now. Sned this to all who need inner peice An telum u luvum.......

Abnuyc.....very funny.
On my walk yesterday I was excited to see note on wine shop door that they will deliver free to the immediate area.

I’m making myself drink about a litre of water a day and not have my glass of wine until 6

I’m having a,lot of FaceTime with the family.
A lot of what’s apping with various groups including my adult students
Reading
Tidying in a rather desultory fashion and generally trying to keep bad thoughts at bay.

I have a total of 23 fence panels, 2 gates and 2 sheds that need painting. I'm determined to do at least 1 a day so that the whole job is finished by the time were liberated. I've got a child's jumper 2/3rds finished, so that needs doing and a cross stitch I started 8 years ago. No excuses not to do them now is there.

Learn something new. Lots of ideas on the web

As the weather is so good, we are going to our allotment. We drive there and only see people in the distance. It's keeping us sane!

M0nica Wed 25-Mar-20 09:14:57

I have more than enough to do to keep me going for more than three months. In fact so far life has been much as normal.

Outside I have a large garden and veg patch that has been barely touched since last October because of the weather, there are 2 rooms to redecorate, the outside wall of our single storey extension to paint, the shed needs another coat of creosote substitute.

Indoors, there are a pile of needlework projects to undertake. A big run on my family history project. A heap of documents to scan in and transcribe and anlyse. I have an essay to write for a course I was doing, then there are a whole host of landscape history projects I can do from home - and have wanted to do for ages, but lacked the time.

And then their are the books piled up around the house waiting to be read.

Well, that deals with the first year!

Rosina Wed 25-Mar-20 11:24:19

Walking, reading, catching up on recordings that usually get deleted for lack of time, phone calls, emails, decorating, gardening, sorting photos, trying to get a slot on Waitrose deliveries. When I was a child, in response to 'What can I doooo?' my Mother's reply was 'If you are bored, it's your own fault - go away and find something to amuse yourself'. I usually did!

Pinkshoes26 Wed 25-Mar-20 11:27:02

I think it is important to have a structure to our days. Get up, dressed and make your bed. Stick to food times so we do not over eat and gain weight. I like to talk with Alexa - question of the day and word games. Tidy/ clean the house. Pick some flowers from the garden. Read / crafts. Home exercise.

mimismo Wed 25-Mar-20 11:27:14

Be grateful for the long walk! Here in Spain it's not allowed and the fines are pretty hefty!

moggie57 Wed 25-Mar-20 11:29:16

go for a walk .....start your family history...

Craftycat Wed 25-Mar-20 11:30:48

I go for a daily walk & luckily the weather has just turned into a gloriously warm spell so I have been gardening.
Popped into Sainsbury's this morning for essentials & it was quite busy but shelves were stocked.
My Yoga teacher has sorted out a way to keep teaching & it is coming over live to us tomorrow- My DH has sorted it so I can watch her doing it on our TV & join in. Clever stuff but no idea how it works!
Actually quite enjoying the peace!

nipsmum Wed 25-Mar-20 11:33:03

Walking my dog, cooking (sharing with daughter and family). Baking ( sharing with elderly neighbours) knitting for charity, reading mostly in bed at night. Not much time to be bored.

Tanjamaltija Wed 25-Mar-20 11:35:03

Entering writing competitions. Contacting people who are sad and alone and lonely. Cooking for others. Making jewellery for fund-raising.

Notright Wed 25-Mar-20 11:36:52

Oh dear Cath the Wise - where is your wisdom. Lots of great exercise videos on the TV or on computer it you have one. So you can get fit. You can educate yourself again if you have a computer, if not it's worth investing in a pad, with all the money we're saving from not going out. Lots of courses you can sign up to from embroidery to writing, to learning a language. There's more to life than cleaning the house. Good luck

Trying to get a supermarket delivery slot !!

Thecatshatontgemat Wed 25-Mar-20 11:42:36

Off on my mountain bike along the coast is wonderful in this sunshine, and lack of cars on the road, mean l can at last cross a nightmare main dual carriageway in relative safety and cycle on the Downs.
The rest of the "at home" activities involve mowing the lawn, mowing my neighbours lawn, digging my garden, digging my neighbours garden, and if it is grey and cold, l am a bookworm and l indulge myself fully. Bliss!!
Sod the housework, no one is going to see it!

Cycorax Wed 25-Mar-20 11:44:43

Gardening, finishing knitting, sewing and embroidery projects. Lots of books waiting to be read. Will try and listen to opera and concert broadcasts.
And yes, a bit of cleaning, but not too much

SuzannahM Wed 25-Mar-20 11:47:21

Family history is a good one, so much can be done over the internet now. When I first started I had to visit all sorts of places all around the country. It cost a fortune and took forever.

We've finally started a project to put all our DVDs (over 500 of them, collected over the years) on to a hard drive so we can watch them from our PCs on the TV and throw out all the dust-collecting DVDs. Also culling our books.

The downside to the decluttering is that we now have bags of things to take to charities and they will probably still be here in a years time. If anything happens to us in the meantime and someone has to clear the house they'll think we were a pair of hoarders grin. Which we probably are, but we used to hoard on shelves, not bags.

polnan Wed 25-Mar-20 11:47:41

yes, this is all very well, but what about those who can`t, physically, and mentally,,, just asking
