Has anybody ever applied for the DV lottery? My DD plans to apply this year and while she seems very confident about the details, I'm worried. Maybe there are some things she needs to know? Something from your personal experience that you could share? Anything? Thanks flowers

Sorry, had to look that up! You must be in the US?

I would think there are reviews with peoples experiences on the internet, maybe that would help?

Oopsadaisy4 sure! Just wanted to see whether there are any fellow GNers who had this experience. My DD is in the US, I'm not.

My niece has applied 2 years ago. She was selected but she didn't manage to go through the interview. She also said it was rather difficult to prepare all the documents so they wouldn't decline them. They declined her photo twice and she had to use a green card photo maker later, also she had troubles with her financial documents, these papers needed to be approved according to their rules which took a lot of her time.
Basically she followed all the requirements from their website and prepared for the interview, there are tips for that, too. She wasn't really upset when she didn't make it, though.
Hope that was useful, Jenny!

CorneliaStreet thanks! I heard that preparing all the documents is difficult, too.

Sounds dodgy to me. Asking for your financial documents then not being accepted.

I also do not have a clue

Financial documents are surely a pre-requisite, you need to be able to support yourself and pay medical insurance and they need to see the proof.
