Digital Will

I don't do online banking and can't think what else I would need this for. Can anyone tell me if I'm missing something ?

I have mentioned this before but AGE UK do a Life Book - either on line or they send you a paper one. You can put all sorts in eg funeral wishes, care for pet, where your will is, what bank accounts you have, utility providers, who to notify. We have ours in a folder together with a list of standing orders and DDs and copy of wills. I must admit it isn't fully completed yet but it helps to get things in order. They advise not to list passwords in it.

I haven't made a digital will, but I have told my son, where he can find a list of e-mail accounts, passwords, etc. as well as a list of insurance and the deeds to the house, which he will need sooner or later.

I use a password manager (PM) and it has the facility for my AC to get access to the PM, should it be needed. I have to nominate my AC then, in the event of my death or incapacity, they can apply for access. My PM contains details of all my online activities, I make additional notes, answers to security questions, account details etc. within the application. The PM generates complex passwords too, then saves them. It's all encrypted.

The PM is clever and well thought out, and my AC cannot get access while I can answer emails. I can also retract permission if I want. I can also share individual passwords with anyone I wish without my them knowing my master password.

PMs aren't always simple to use but are invaluable. Not all PMs have the facility for sharing securely. I pay for my PM but, with 100+ unique passwords all protected by one password only I know, it's very secure too.

Having just updated our will, I had mentioned to DH that we had to leave a note of passwords etc, but wasn't sure how to do it securely.
This has post prompted me to Google digital wills. I shall watch this thread with interest.
