I wanted to work on a boat but couldn't until age 21 by the I was married
I wanted to go to Art College at interview they said if no good after 6 months have to leave. My mum said 'what else do you like doing?' I said "embroidery" so I ended up doing City & Guilds domestic science course. It didn't lead to a job but the knowledge of food science in these days of food fads has stayed with me. I can make a mattress, a lampshade, cook for 50, clean a Georgian House..
I was a hotel book-keeper receptionist for many years. Married had 3 children, was a croupier, did a humanities degree, civil servant, ended up in a call centre and couldn't wait to retire
In my spare time I did organic farming, followed pre celtic customs, school pta, lunches,cleaning.....
in 12 years been on 10 committees (5 at once) played bingo, health visitor for 3 years, worked my way thro' archaeoloogy, history, skittles, boules, bridge, rummykub, mahjong, family history, the list goes on WI.... I grasp something do in depth, do to death and move on to something else....nearing 72 I now watch tv and am getting addicted to granset!
