This week's guest blog post celebrates falling in love...with a place. Have you ever done the same? And have you written/received love letters (to a person or a place!)?

My husband sends me love notes. The last (apart from today's card) was a beautiful Thank You card in which he told me how much he appreciated me and how much my love means to him.

Yes, the place we went to to clebrate our Ruby Wedding in the Maldives and years ago the Colin House Hotel in the Cotswolds when DH arranged a romantic weekend there as a surprise for me.

Can a train count? Orient Express for my 60th birthday. We watched it together on the Art Deco programme last week and both got misty eyed.

Last time DH went away overnight he lft a little note on my pillow saying "I love you" with a red rose.

We will have been married 45 years on Sunday.

The first place I fell in love with was the farm where I spent most of my teenage years. The peace, the beauty, the smells of the horses, the dogs, the animals and the crops in the fields. It's a place to which I still return in my mind quite often. I sometimes return in body too, but I can no longer enter and all the beings that made it magical are long gone. The place still casts a spell over me though.....

I used to think I would live there when I grew up, and I hung on to this dream for a long time before admitting to myself that it would never happen.

I received my first love letter at secondary school, it was handed to me by the boys best friend. It was very nice to receive a love letter and my friends wanted to see it and find out who it was from, but because I knew that the boy was very shy and they would tease him, I did not want them to know who it was from, however that was not an option for them and they tried very hard to prize the letter from my hand but I held it with all my might and they never did find out who it was from.

Second love letter was given to my sister to give to me, I was a bit older this time, again it was nice to get.

I still have love letters given to me by my husband many years ago and do get them out and read them every now and then, and have a laugh at how mushy they were.

Not sure if people give love letters anymore smile but if they dont, I think its a shame because my love letters are a very happy memory for me

I have ever had this kind of experience, where my place was related with FengHuang, Hunan province, China, where I and my friends have the tour together several years ago, and there was a small book store and we negotiate to send a card for the future us, and then one of my friend who have known about me for about ten year said he would like to know me in the many ten years in the rest of our life, and would like to send me letters and cards of the beautiful town every ten years from the place, which touched me very much, we are engaged right now. smile

The place I fell in love with is Abersoch. The closer I get as I'm driving, the more I can feel myself relaxing. I just feel as though I'm home.

In my teens I fell in love with the area between Arisaig and Morar in Western Inverness-shire. White sands, blue-green sea, rocky coves, wonderful views of the Cuillins of Skye and the islands of Eigg and Rhum.
